Academia has become a snake oil. Nowadays half the population has a degree, so for most jobs having one is expected even if the position shouldn't require one.

People with eating disorders are in constant competition with everyone around them, everyone fatter is reverse thinspo and everyone thinner is thinspo. The one user honest about that was dogpiled with downvotes in the comments.

The ED communities have had a trend towards fat acceptance, but it is truly just to exploit them. Even MyProAna and ED discords have obese people posting full body posts with everyone fawning with support, but clearly simultaneously using them as "reverse thinspo". When you're in competition with everyone, of course you'll want to rig it by having fat people around you.

A little late, but I can speak on this. The ED community has to be very careful not to come across as being ProAna. They have to be aggressively positive and supportive of everyone, even in ridiculous situations, because otherwise they'll get in trouble for encouraging disordered thinking.

The thing about eating disorders is that hearing from people who are in a similar situation through memes and jokes can help, but it can also trigger that competative streak which is what causes people to go ham and starve for days. the Edmemes sub is pretty good for this, it's just jokes about spaghetti and calorie counting, but the anonymous sub is chock full of real Anas who are dying, and wannabes who think that being a fat pig with poor impulse control is the same as an eating disorder. This is actively harmful, because both groups just set each other off constantly. The pigs post about bingeing, the anas tell them how uwu valid they are while quietly patting themselves on the back for not being such a fatty, and the fatties keep doing what they're doing because they're getting validation.

Anorexics are nasty. It's not really their fault, it's the disorder, but it means that you can't really trust what they say especially if it's a compliment.

I just want these fucking Reddit admins to know that, THEY ARE the reason why these problems exist, and not the opposite. It's like complaining that you can't watch a western movie in North Korea while also supporting the same ideology that prevents you from watching that same fucking movie.
