But I'm trying to grip what the thought-leaders are after here with this whole 'cancel rent' shit.

My best guess is that the thought leaders want the property value to absolutely plummet, so they can buy up the land once the landlords and owners and banks all try to get rid of those assets as quickly as possible (in the instance that the city somehow 'forced' this). They'd be getting the shit for pennies on the dollar, sit on it while funded by taxpayer subsidies, and then flip and sell them to developers years and years down the line to make a neat profit and trigger another gentrification/housing supply crisis to do it all over again.
But I'm just a fat retard on the internet so maybe I'm missing something

Not sure if this was posted, but George Floyd's family is filing a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis for the death of George Floyd.

This would've been nice INSTEAD of rioting and whatnot. I doubt Minneapolis has any money, especially since they were declined relief funds because of the riots.
