Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

All these people being pessimistic about Jeffery buying a forum. Have none of you wanted to experience the intoxicating feeling of total power, mortals?
Lowtax had total power but the only intoxicating feeling he had was from opioids and boxed wine. It's kind of depressing when you look at him.

The way he doesn't seem to give a shit about anything except random hobbies (mangosteen, goldbelly, etc) that he discards serially is straight out of a vignette from The Sociopath Next Door. Substance abuse is incredibly common in that population. Normal people center their relationships or some sort of connection with other human beings, some kind of meaning.... it does nothing for ASPD people so there isn't a whole lot left besides getting high and fucking with people for fun. They tend to die younger than normal people just because they are intolerably bored unless they are doing something dangerous, like tons of drugs.

What are the tax implications of making the SA sale? Is it taxed as income? Could the various liens eat away at the sum? Would some of the funds go directly to spousal support, as the asset existed during both marriages?

So that's what I was doing wrong. And here I always thought it was an online version of this:

There is a Japanese legend about a treasure which was guarded by a dragon. Many people tried to slay the dragon, but apparently none succeeded, even though some of them were very strong warriors. It turned out that if the warrior in question actually killed the dragon, once he saw the treasure he became a dragon himself, and guarded it from now on. The curse was only destroyed when the next winner proved his wisdom and threw the treasure in the sea.

If Lowtax hates the SA goons so much, he should have Null do the migration just out of spite for his userbase. If he still has the right to choose who'd be doing the migrating.

Regardless, I'm sure a lot of goons would throw a humongous fit and threaten to leave anyway when Xenforo isn't the same comfortable software they've been used to for ages now.

Capital gains if the stock of somethingawful llc is sold to jeffrey. From there first his debts get paid, back taxes and liens get priority. Then back maintenance or child support. Then whatever is left is his.

I've been thinking lots about the reason goons didn't want to migrate SA and the whole thing doesnt make sense. SA never backed up any of its images so there's really nothing noteworthy to salvage honestly.
Goons unironically think their post counts and decade-old threads are worth thousands of dollars, I'm not even being hyperbolic.

The ironic thing is, you could attach images to your posts, but I think it had some strict limitations, like (I could be wrong about this, correct me) you could only upload one image per post, the image could only be under the text you wrote, and it couldn't exceed a certain size? That size being something reasonably generous by 2001 standards but laughable by modern standards, and you had to have a platinum account to upload at all. And even platinum account holders rarely used it because of those restrictions.

And I know WaffleImages was the big one that was around and eventually went down, but before that, ImageShack was the go-to for uploading, and they eventually blocked SA for some reason. I remember the administration did a mass-edit of posts containing Imageshack URLs to convert them to Waffleimages, with a migration of images to Waffleimages, but once Waffle went down, nobody bothered to even try and fix it.
