To put an end to it, Squidward an Mr. Krabs, out of the public eye, negotiate behind the scenes to come up with a solution.

What they don't realize is that Spongebob has become so radicalized that he starts doing things that will actually destroy all of them, under the guise of progress.

In the end, because of Spongebob's actions, any progress Squidward and Mr. Krabs have made is undone, everyone is worse off than before, the establishment that has been taking care of all of them is gone, Squidward's worst fears have come true and Spongebob treats it as a win.

Spongebob wouldn't be progressive or conservative. He just wouldn't really pay attention to politics, as he mostly just pay attentions to his job.


Also New York Times sucks. Also they really do a great job painting themselves as the bad guys.

When people talk about the increasing infantilization of the average person, I believe it when I look on Youtube and see things like "WW2 AS DEPICTED BY SPONGEBOB!!1!!" and gets over a million views. I know that its funny for a meme, but even that way, trying to simplify it to the point you're using a fucking childrens cartoon that you should've stopped watching when you were 15 and stopped being good after the movie genuinely upsets me.

Sometimes it's good for a laugh, sometimes it's fun to watch people lose their shit over animation, other times, the writing may have legitimate undertones or themes hidden in the show. It IS possible to have a message in kids cartoons or any piece of entertainment. It's HOW you execute it that many falter.

As you said, its a goddamn cartoon. Stop trying to make political dissertations over a silly cartoon sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea.
