3GD if a FUCKHUEG dam on the Yangtze built by the Chinese for electrical generation and flood control. The rainy season started early and has been very bad this year [insert speculation about cloud seeding here] to the point where that the chinks have opened up all the sluices and started dynamiting levees and shit upstream and downstream to keep pressure off the dam. As a result of this, towns and cities are getting flooded out and arable land is getting submerged. It is not happening (yet) but the Chinese are instigating a set of smaller disasters to stave off the potential large disaster of a 3GD failure, and they'll have to deal with that even if the dam survives. Also, since it's the CCP, there's rampant speculation about their characteristic hubris, corruption, and substandard construction compounded by their typical opacity.

Tl;dr: It's not chink tsunami Chernobyl yet, but it could be. The rainy season still has something like a month left in it.

That would be interesting. I always thought the Hindu nationalism stopped their expansion wants at Jammu and Kashmir? Don’t want to derail this thread but if you do start a thread I’d read it.

There's also a province in the far east called Arunachal Pradesh that the Chinese argue is part of Tibet and therefore theirs while India says it's theirs. It's all down to British Raj shenanigans IIRC. Beyond that there's a few scattered minor border disputes plus standard regional power jockeying.

Hindutva ideology believes that Indians are the master race and that the rest of the world is civilized because people from India traveled out and enlightened them. They also believe that the events in the Mahabharata and other Hindu scripture is real with Krishna and shit and literally occurred as described with the millions of soldiers and some say aircraft and nuclear missiles that killed almost everyone. Some Hindutva thinkers want to annex Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and other countries in the area and convert/expel the Muslims since it would be a true national unification.

I know the Mandate of Heaven has been brought up to death in this thread, but it's really weird how it's lining up like this. There has been tons of weird weather shit happening in China lately, daytime becoming dark as night, huge hailstorms, and now floods on a literal biblical level.

I wonder that if once the inevitable revolution occurs in China, they'll be using the Mandate as a sort of justification of the failure of the Communist regime. Makes me think how many would believe it.

Does anything special happen if the downstream river backs up onto the dam outlets? That's a lot of force to suddenly be pushing in unusual directions.

From what I can tell/understand, the levees downstream would collapse before that could happen. You have to remember that even though it looks teeny-tiny in the videos, it's an extra bigass fries dam. So downstream flow would have to rise tens of meters to cover the outlets. And then water would probably just flow through them anyway, like a pool filter or something,
