#JusticeForK9]
The last time my city had an officer killed on duty was back in the 40s or so. A few years back there was a shootout with a hoodrat who brought guns to a baby shower and started walking around the city with them, open carry is legal in my state. Some one called the police, police responded they tried just to ask him some questions about "WTF is going on", he ran K9 unit is set lose, Hoodrat shot the dog and police returned fire. The City residents supported the police and held candlelight vigils for the K9, the media even called the K9 "officer". Kids held fundraisers to get the future K9 units bullet resistant vests, it was heart warming. The family of the hoodrat tried to hold rallies "Justice for hoodrat" and the city residents just told them basically to "Get the fuck out, we don't support a dog killer".
Even now there have been some attempts for "Defund the police / justice for Hoodrat" but all they do is piss off the city's resident because they leave a ton of trash, and well Hoodrat shot and killed a dog and shot at police.
Edit: speaking more about this, I really don't understand why they run. For instance, I had a discussion/debate with a black friend (when this all kinda started) about police brutality. He showed me the video of the guy whose actions caused his grandmother to be shot and killed, and I said that the dude's actions were clearly non-compliant with the police. I then showed him that video about the police brutality activist who went with police and did simulations (and afterwards was like, oh man I see it now, I need to start teaching black people to comply with police). He disagreed with the activist, saying that "he could've done more" and that "he didn't need to shoot the guy". It was baffling, to say the least, as I watched a black man wiggle on the ground after a police officer asked him to walk forward slowly to them with his hands out, and my friend saying "he is complying with the police".
It was really 1 screen, 2 movies as we had very different definitions of "being compliant".
(And yes, we're still friends)
