I think you'll be severely disappointed to find out that alex is kinda like DSP in that controversies slide off him somewhat easily, with just the shit he pulled as EvaXephon he would've been cancelled eons ago. Plus his children fanbase will follow him anywhere so it ultimately doesnt matter.

I believe Unity has an entity component system that does just this, it's also useful for decluttering pointless inheritance hierarchies. Not that Alex has one. Even if I'm misunderstanding the entity component system Unity has, it's very easy to make one that does just what you're describing. It would also be a major boon for code re-use that any indie project sorely needs.

Yup. That's the basic component-object model Unity is based on, and the main thing you can do in the GUI part of the editor aside from positioning objects is slot components into objects like lego bricks. (it does have a new fancy system actually called the 'entity-component system' but that's something different and not frequently used, yet)

Unity tries really hard to hammer the importance of the component-object model into you in all of its examples and tutorials (as well as basic C# inheritance) which makes it even weirder to me that Alex just threw it out for his massive gross non-structures.

Bingo. I was thinking about the same exact thing earlier.
Although, making big bank isn't why either of them seems to be doing it (But is probably still a goal of theirs of course). Yanderedev had an autistic fit with Mike Z and made a post on /v/ (Was it /v/?) shortly after about making a game to "outshine him", and Drapeis hasn't gone the patreon route yet, initially appearing to be doing it because they never got the yandere simulator that they wanted. Alex could've been so much more successful if he relenquished his past and formed an actual competent team to work on the game with they money he was getting, but his narcissism got the best of him. If his goal was to make tons of money, he fucked it up big time.
