Not to put words in the mouth of anyone, but I don't think that they're necessarily saying Nazis are great just because they're preferable to communists. You can say that ice cream that tastes like grass is better than ice cream that tastes like dirt and still think that both are inferior to mint chocolate chip. If you're talking about a hypothetical where Nazis and commies are the only choices, you can't just tilt your nose up and proclaim "I choose neither!" because one will choose you - and that's the point they're making: if you don't proclaim your love of the commies they'll be screaming that you're a Nazi (even if you're not) and that you need a bullet.
