Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

9 shows? That sounds like the Kurtzman approach.

Here's more twitter lunacy

This is bullshit, Dooku wasn't Palpatine's puppet. If I'm not mistaken, he left the Jedi Order after Qui-Gon's death because he didn't like that they were trying to influence the political side of the Republic.
"Snoke's characterization as an abuser"
I don't remember seeing that in the movies. Hell, we know nothing about the guy. I'm not surprised that this twitter account is promoting the Disney Trilogy since his Twitter handle is named after a character who had less than 2 minutes of screentime in TLJ.

2: They've claimed that Tarkin will be a major character in the not-Katarn show (oh great, more shitty CGI) but the actor who played him in RO claims that isn't the case.
I wish they would get Wayne Pygram to play Tarkin again (with prosthetics).
6: The Galaxy's Edge VR game (which is meant to serve as a way to maintain interest in the park due to Corona killing traffic for it) will apparently be filled to the brim with aliens despite the actual park having only one despite what all the lame brochures and park guides will tell you.

That alien at the bar reminds me of the pianist on The Orville.

11: Some dumb cartoon about BB-8 was cancelled apparently. I'm not too sure on this one but it seems likely.
The one with every Sequel Trilogy character shaped like BB-8? Thank god.

They seem to be Disney shit's replacement for the Gran. Gran still appear in Marvel's comics, but since the introduction of these six-eyed aholes they've been appearing in the place of the Gran. With an IDW comic even featuring a gran on its cover but the story itself replacing it with a six-eyed guy.

And yes, aside from the extra pair of eyes they look just like the Orville ones. Sad part is they're probably the least repulsive aliens Disney has made and one of the few alongside the giant shrimp that feels like they could fit in older scenes, but their nature as replacements make me displeased with them in general. Anyway, it feels as if all of Disney's aliens are made by the same generic flesh-toned alien designers you see too commonly these days.

Anyway, what would've been the best option? What name would've best suited the clone? Any consensus on here?
I'm surprised they didn't go with one of the more popular, low-budget gimmicks and name the clone "Ekul". (Luke's name inverted.)

I really like this one. It's got a lot of personality and the bandages on her hands and feet give off the vibe that she incorporates punching and kicking into her fighting style. She's also much more beautiful in this redesign and doesn't look jaundiced or ashy.
I like this as well, too. The hand and foot wraps remind me of Sagat from Street Fighter and make me wonder if she has physical strength that stays largely hidden until its needed.

Disney News:
Blablabla things are going very bad and major politicians have pretty much lost faith in Disney so we probably won't see that bailout after all. I just hope Trump doesn't bend the knee for them again. Anyway an old Disney leaker who was absent for quite some time came back and things are looking really bad at Disney and even the Disney drones are starting to lose faith in them.
https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/on-layoffs-very-bad-attendance-and-igers-legacy-being-one-of-disgrace.966982/ Anyway, all the major leakers, news sites and even some SW circles are saying the same thing, that major layoffs that will put all past ones to shame is coming and Iger is getting the boot and its up to cheapskate Chapek to "save" Disney, and honestly a mondo cheapskate is their best chance of being saved from their financial ruin at this point. I just hope he sells some IPs while he's at it...

The other leaker WDW Pro has been pretty smug and confident as of late.

Despite being a Kennedy and Abrams buttkisser, this guy's alright.

I still wonder though, is Lucasfilm making all these announcements without any money? Do they have some form of income? Are they doing this to boost appeal with investors? Or is Kennedy allowing this as some sort of threat to Iger to give them more money?
The part of Iger being kicked out in disgrace is just way too much for me to believe. Yes, he may be an arrogant dickhead that overspent but he's also the most competent guy they have that hasn't jumped ship to TikTok. Iger, for all his faults, still gives investors confidence. Giving him the boot will probably only make their stock go down even further.

Yeah he's probably exaggerating that one, but I wouldn't be surprised if Iger suddenly announced an early retirement or "finding better opportunities elsewhere" especially since this is being mentioned by several other people and WDW Pro doesn't seems to deny it, and that cheeky sob hasn't been wrong yet. Regardless, there is shit happening that much is for sure and layoffs are coming, and even Abigail Disney seems to have confirmed that much at least and it seems some are discouraging investments in Disney right now, instead focuing on bearish trades. Also Iger was giving himself more pay and more raises than he deserved while barely providing for his employees until Abigail Disney called him out on it. And on the topic of sinking ships, not only did the Disney+ CEO resign a little while back but now another the Disney+ content chief has also jumped ship, and this is quite a blow considering that Disney+ is the only part of the company that's still growing and moving forward atm.

But in more SW-related news...

1: The Disney Wars hotel which is also costing billions has seen very little progress, and they've moved the date of its opening from late 2020 to an undisclosed point in 2021.
1596392450988.jpeg

At the rate its been going I expect it to open (if no shit hits the fan or we all don't get nuked) in late 2021 or early 2022.

2: "Geek news sites" are saying Taika Watiti will be the one to direct Disney's 2023 SW movie as part of the first in the new trilogy. As this is the same guy who did Thor Ragnarok I expect a flashy show of mediocrity.

3: I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but back in February Iger implied that he wanted to milk the Mandalorian some more by giving side characters their own shows. Since this was back before Corona hit them really hard, I don't think it'll happen... but then again "9 shows"...

4: I think its been almost a year now since the Dr. Aphra tv show rumors sprung up. Haven't heard anything about it since so hopefully it really was all just a load of bull. But then again... 9 shows... Hopefully they aren't that insane, unless that's the female led show that Kennedy wants to do with Leslye Headland...

However, with Disney+'s content chief quitting at the seeming height of Disney+' creative output, maybe we won't see any of this happen hopefully.

5: The Behind the Scenes of Galaxy's Edge TV special no one watched or talked about from last year starring Neil Patrick Harris (despite having nothing to do with Star Wars) will be brought over to Disney+ so you don't forget the stupid park.

6: Mark Austin (a former Lucasfilm CGI artist, SFX guy and the guy who portrayed Boba in the Special Edition of ANH) got driven off Twitter by angry Disney drones after he made a joke about Jar Jar despite that many of these same people were happily shitting on Jar Jar and the prequels when Disney first bought the brand.
Some even ignorantly call him a nobody who wore a costume one time while ignoring his special effects work for Lucasfilm.

7: Wilford Brimley has passed away... Rest in peace Mr. Noa you bushy-faced angel.

When his name was actually canonically Jaster Mereel?

Two things about this:
1. As some have pointed out, Jaster Mereel was retconned to be Jango's mentor in the True Mandalorian Super Commandos (which was retconned again to non-existence . I'm still salty over this).
2. Later in the EU, it is revealed Boba Fett did use Jaster Mereel's name as a cover when he joined the Mandalorian Journeymen Protectors. This when he was married to Sintas Vel. Fett's days as a Journeyman Protector ended when he found that one of Fett's superior officers raped Vel and Fett killed him. The couple divorced shortly after. So, in a way, the old lore in Tales was reworked into the Pre-Disney canon.

That was his name in the Bounty Hunter Tales book (and I do like that story) The one Im thinking of is in another book where he talks to Leia candidly and complains about his aging body (he mentions his aching knees). He is clearly a self serving man but clearly has a moral code he follows. He may use that name as well. It is not in the Tales from Jabba's Palace Book, its another one. Does anyone remember what book that is from?

It's in the same book and you are misremembering things.
1. Fett's meeting with Leia is in a flashback and his talk about his code of honor happens the night before the Battle of the Great Carkoon.
Jabba had sent Leia in for Fett to have "fun time" with. Fett did not do such a thing, but didn't send Leia back because "Jabba would feed you to his rancor and he would have an everlasting grudge" him for such an insult. They have their conversation there.
2. His "aching knees" are from after his stay in the Sarlacc. The main story takes place years after ROTJ and Fett is hunting Kardue'sai'Malloc, "The Butcher of Montellian Serat." Fett complains about his knees after being in a crouched position while monitoring the Devronian. Interestingly, Fett mentions that he had to get cybernetic prosthetics for one of his legs (thanks to injuries he sustained from his Sarlacc escape) and it's the source of his discomfort.

Didn’t that story also state that Fett had gotten cancer due to exposure from the Sarlac pits stomach acid’s?

I’d forgotten that guy was played by Wilford Brimley

So I don't have Disney Plus. But yesterday I was dog sitting for my sister, who has diney plus and I got to watch both the Clone Wars season 7 and The Mandalorian. I enjoyed both.
I actually love the clone wars and Ashoka. So don't hate on me guys
I used to dig TCW and Ahsoka as well. I'm just not a fan of when either is handled poorly, which both apply to Season 7, IMO. But then, Season 7 is easy to dismiss since it's the only season that was produced--and underwent changes--without the involvement of George Lucas.

You don't have to like season 7. I do, we all have different opinions. I found in the age of social media, we become so reliant on having the same opinions. That we forget it's ok to have different opinions

I wasn't admonishing you for your opinion, I was just adding my two cents since neither TCW nor Ahsoka is particularly...loved by most of this thread's inhabitants (and not for unfair reasons). I tend to say a lot of harsh things about Filoni and TCW myself, and was just clarifying my position.

Ahsoka is a good, my problems with her is not because of her character per se. It's that Filoni suffers from the "I need to insert my OC into everything!" syndrome. Just because you have a good OC doesn't mean that it should have interactions with every single character that ever existed in the original franchise. Eventually, a character's arc ends and that's when it should be over. Putting more of it after that is just plain vanity or an inability to write another good character.

I liked Ashoka... at least until season 4 of Space Aladdin and pals Cuck Thrawn brought her back
