Protesters burned an American flag and a Bible in Portland, Oregon, sparking outrage just as weeks of violent demonstrations seemed to be coming to a close.

For more than 60 days, Black Lives Matters demonstrators, including a “Wall of Moms” and a “Wall of Vets,” have clashed with federal agents in the city, drawing national attention as authorities blasted marchers with tear gas and the civilians at times responded with weapons of their own — such as feces, bleach, bricks or batteries.

Friday night’s demonstrations were largely peaceful, appearing to mark a break from the chaos as federal agents made a recent deal to allow local authorities to handle the protests.

But just after midnight, marchers were caught on video using the flag and holy book as kindling for bonfires lit outside the federal courthouse, which has been a focal point of rioting after the death of George Floyd in police custody in May, according to a news report.

“Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland,” claimed Ian Miles Cheong on Twitter Saturday.

The post featured a video which showed protestors with “Black Lives Matter” signs tossing bibles into a raging bonfire. The video, which has gone viral, had more than 1.8 million views and thousands of retweets.

“Now we move to the book burning phase,” said Donald Trump Jr. in a tweet Saturday. “I’m pretty sure ANTIFA doesn’t actually stand for what they say it stands for. Maybe just remove the anti part of [their] name and it’s perfect,” he wrote.

The fire was later put out by members of Moms United for Black Lives Matter, who doused the flames with bottles of water and stomped on the embers, according to KOIN 6, a local CBS affiliate television station in Portland.

Really makes you think.

Maybe partially, but I think it's willful ignorance, not just regular ignorance. There's no excuse for thinking the country is, culturally, the same as it was in the 80s and 90s. You just have to look outside your echo chamber and see the world as it is.
Darling, they think the country is culturally exactly the same as the 1950's. This percolates though everything. It's why they're acting like whites beat every black that walks through a suburb. It's why they act like if you don't act exactly like Donna Reed, you are non-binary/queer/ambisexual/autismsexual rather than just being a woman.

They're the first generation to grow up without some way of showing rebellion that wasn't already socially acceptable. In the 50-60's growing your hair out and doing drugs was rebellious. 60-70's dong that and random sex was added. In the 80's you had crazy hair styles, whether it was hair band style or mohawks and dyes. 90's had tattoos and piercings and the whole trenchcoat mafia shit. Early 2000's had even more piercings and the whole emo/goth hilarity. Now people regularly dye their hair weird colors, cut it in just about any way you can picture. Tattoos, unless they're on the face, are not that unusual. Parents will happily encourage their kids in BME as long as it's their genitals. How do you show "fuck you mom and dad" when mom has a pixie cut dyed teal, and dad has both sleeves done with tattoos, and they cheer you on with every progressive thing you join?

There are no major wars to be fought because either their parents, or in a number of cases, grandparents already fought them.

All of them are modern Don Quixotes tilting at their windmills and claiming to fight giants.

No, no, this is exactly what they stand for. The establishment of communism relies on the destruction of, among other things, the institutions of the family and the Church. This altogether destroys the fabric of society, which allows the State to come in and invite itself into every nook and cranny of society as a means of holding everything together, which also allows the State to enact communist policy since-- even in theory-- only the State could enforce it.

Fascism is bad. Communism is also bad. Antifa aren't "the real facists", they're communists-- bearers of an ideology that brought ruin to millions worldwide.

What does God have to do with racism?

Not related to BLM/Antifa/Portland per se, but even progressive "Christians" try to link God and Jesus to racism, e.g. they cite the biblical descriptions and treatment of the Canaanites as "racial bias." Of course there's loads of weak and quite frankly offensively dumb interpretation attached to that, but we're in a really bad state when even alleged followers think we need a woke retelling of the Bible.

They burn a Bible, but will demand those who oppose them to follow the teachings of Christ when they strike back.
They burn without reading then demand that those who oppose them follow their version of the teachings of Christ when they strike back.

Their version being "you can't do anything, ever. Just roll over and die"
