Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Build back bettet is absolutely terrible! It indirectly makes people think of destroyed cities, which is going to be a major weak spot for the entire democratic party. As reductionist as it sounds, presidential candidates define the party: if Republicans and Democrats are a circus tent, the presidential campaign is the ringmaster and the center pole. They support, direct, and emphase all the downticket races. Republicans have Make America Great Again to rally under. Good, distictive (MAGA is an instantly recognizable slogan), allows for optimism, and a certain pragmatic flexibility. Build back better is going to act as an unconcious association of Democrats with riots, and if Trump plays up job losses under Obama, urban blight before that as well.

Not to mention it's not a great slogan from a wordplay angle. Build back better can't be abbreviated (BuBaBe?) and 3B will be memed to hell in a bad way (Beer, Bacon, Babes! Boobs, Butt, Bush! Bland Broken Bumbler! And depending on his VP, Big Black Bitch!).

They should have run something centering Biden as a moderate unifier. "Back to America's Heart" or something like that, and leaning into unironic 80's/90's feelgood nostalgia, would be way better. Are the strategists really that out of touch?

They're a mixture of true believers that nationalism is evil, and cynical predators who understand that stoking nationalism in the hearts of the people will lead to them being run out on a rail some day.

I hear it makes the bearer do and say some very strange things, like rambling about some awful poolside villain named Corn Pop, or stammering things on television about your m—m—mental fu—men—mental faculties.

Say it with me: dig a hole, and get payed to fill it back in. I believe you can even quote a democrat on creating jobs with something to that effect. The endless grift, the everlasting demand, and you never get blamed unless you directly get caught digging the hole. Much like governments burning down a farm, using a third party, and showing up later to help the ignorant yet grateful farmer. The riots dug the hole. Now Biden is saying all you need to do to build it back better is elect him. I'm sure he believe the hole is going to be ten feet higher after he is done with it. Do beware anyone claiming to have a timely solution to a timely problem. If they didn't create it from their own direct efforts then there is good chance they goaded someone else to create it.

But really. Only like two people are looking at Biden in that photo, and they both look confused to me. All the kids are looking at something offscreen (probably the pool).

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer traveled to Delaware last weekend to meet with Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s first known in-person session with a potential running mate as he nears a decision.

Whitmer visited Biden Sunday, according to two high-ranking Michigan Democrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The first-term governor of the battleground state has long been on his short list of possible running mates.

Flight records show a chartered plane left Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport for Delaware Coastal Airport at 5:33 p.m. and returned at 11:16 p.m.

The governor’s office declined to confirm or deny the trip.

“We don’t discuss her personal schedule,” spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said.

Biden’s campaign declined to comment.

He has spent months weighing who would serve alongside him if he wins in November. Biden has pledged to select a woman and has conducted an expansive search, including Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, California Rep. Karen Bass and former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice.

Biden is facing calls to select a Black woman to acknowledge their crucial role in Democratic politics and in response to the nation’s reckoning with systemic racism.

Whitmer has sought to address racism and racial inequity. In April, she created a task force to address the pandemic’s racial disparities and later proposed police reforms in the wake of George Floyd’s death. On Wednesday — days after visiting Biden — she declared racism a public health crisis, created an advisory council of Black leaders and required implicit bias training for all state employees.

If Whitmer is chosen to join the ticket and Biden wins, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II would become the country’s only Black governor.

Biden and Whitmer formed a bond after he campaigned for her in the 2018 gubernatorial election. She is a co-chair on his campaign.

Her profile has grown since delivering the Democrats’ response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address and especially amid the pandemic. She has taken aggressive steps to curb the coronavirus in a state that was a hot spot nationally early on and — after she criticized the federal response — has drawn criticism from Trump, who in March urged Vice President Mike Pence not to call “the woman in Michigan.”

I don't see a Whitmer VP coming soon, but it would be funny to see Biden further piss off a loud group of black women.
