The biggest red flag for me is how he treats his friends in moments where his insecurity is dialed up. A good example would be his second big fight with Flamenco - Flam, being autistic, makes a fat joke not realising it will trigger Ralph's latent gunt rage. Ralph, of course, gets mad because he doesn't like attention being drawn to his weight, so instead of bantering back lightheartedly, he becomes extremely vindictive hurling targeted insults in an effort to make Flam feel even more insecure and look even more humiliated to everyone else.

This is obviously not something someone normal does to people they genuinely like and care about such as their friends. It absolutely is something someone does when they see people as things to be used. If objects aren't working properly, it is not uncommon for a person with rage issues to start smashing them in frustration. That's how Ralph sees people and treats them.

I've encountered sociopaths before and that was always a noticeable trait they have. Very charming when everything is going how they want, but intensely spiteful when they are not, regardless of who they're dealing with.

what myself and @Unog are trying to say is this is much too broad of a character trait to determine anything by nonprofessionals, especially considering professionals often misdiagnose. Literally all the traits anyone here has listed are all the qualities of a spoiled fucking brat. So is every spoiled brat a sociopath, or just the ones you don’t like?

Quit diagnosing cows. Google ≠ the years of experience needed for such things and it’s so tiresome to have to pass the posts of the same 2-3 people who “totally know” that everyone they don’t like has some psychological disorder.

Sometimes cows are just cows. Usually cows are just cows. Ralph is a drunk, not some supernatural, rain man-esque, being of socio-pathological (that’s not a word but whatever) evil. You know his actions but you don’t know his thoughts and what he does when he’s alone and in private- which is vital info.

All of Ralph's behavioral problems can be traced back to the fact that he doesn't want to be reminded of or have to relive any of his past mistakes. He is a man who's incapable of admitting fault because at this point to do so would bring the sum totality of his current situation fully to bear against him.

He would, at once, have to go through every single mistake he's made ever since he decided to host the Healstream. He's a living example of why acceptance of failure, and learning from one's mistakes, is a very important part of life. If you don't, you eventually turn into Ethan Ralph.

But that's exactly how sociopaths are identified. Sociopathy isn't some imagined freak rare disorder like you're trying to characterize it as being, and it isn't based on innate problems on the psyche like you claimed earlier. That's psychopathy. You're acting like to admit to him being a garden variety sociopath is to say he's a psychopath like Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. Sociopathy is just a mundane consequence of people's minds twisting until they can longer function well in society. Everything you're saying to disagree is actually an agreement.

I agree of course. We're not fucking doctors, at least I certainly ain't. Still, we can speculate on his state of mind, what pathological flaws he may have that may be the cause of his behaviour. It's kinda dumb but people are bound to make such claims anyway so why not? I don't think being a sociopath makes Ralph special in any way, but I do think it would explain some things.
