Comedy is supposed to be offensive. The more offensive it is, the funnier it gets, as long as it doesn't punch down. Punching down is for lazy, intellectually dishonest racists. It's all in the context and delivery. Punching up, catches people in the root chakra with a blast of truth that has to travel up their spine to get to the brain before their conditioned responses can lie to them from the cerebral cortex, triggering a cognitive dissonance wave that either makes them bust out laughing, break down in tears or fly into a murderous rage.
