You're probably right of course. It does help the odds though, even if they are slim. We've got a whole cast of characters who will have a spring in their step now. Their original embarrassments all snowballed out of overconfidence, and if they have room to get overconfident again then it means they have more room to embarrass themselves again. We can hope anyway.
