Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Stark minority. Much more likely-- and Trump's primary strategy-- is voter disillusionment, and the DNC is outright assisting him in that goal.

Have you heard Trump speak? He is not exactly the most sound of mind either. He literally thought WW II happened in 1918 just recently. He's also pretty fat and in his mid 70s, too. Not a good bastion of health there.

Biden is at least not fat

I am currently running through a number of different scenarios in my head.

1. The Dems intend to cheat like absolute motherfuckers anyway. They could run Biden and Biden's pet rock in this scenario, if they're that confident they've rigged the game well enough.
2. The Dems are either trying to lose, or trying to get into "contested election" territory which many people have promised to start the second American Civil War over. This scenario means they're not confident that they can game the election itself, but they'd be satisfied with ruling over a pile of ashes - which means they feel confident that they have enough boots on the ground to raise Cain and upend the country so badly that the last thing anyone's worried about is a damned beauty pageant.
3. The Dems are confident enough in their media lapdogs' ability to drown out the inevitable uncomfortable questions fielded about Harris, and in this scenario they might "politely" ask Biden to vacate the Oval Office to usher in their black kween. This then puts the Speaker of the House in the VP slot IIRC.

It was always Kamala. She's pure unadulterated establishment and was their first choice for the actual presidential nomination. Had the most endorsements of any nominee by a huge margin, but died in a ditch due to no personality and a god fucking awful campaign which saw her essentially hiding from the spotlight while everyone else dunked on eachother (remember those debates?). Since then they've slowly been rehabilitising her by having her do this and that and showing what passes for emotions.

There's a difference between being dumb and being senile. In a more practical sense, there's a difference between saying WWII (as opposed to WWI) ended in 1918 and saying that we've had 150 million gun deaths and 120 million COVID deaths.
