Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I grew up really poor so I have a lot of unhealthy fat fucks and addicts in my family. I'm not going so far as to say Covid is fake but the fact that no one I know has caught it is unlikely if it's really as infectious and deadly as they say.
To be fair it is incredibly infectious because it's a novel virus, the problem is that people keep forgetting that the massive majority of people who catch it are completely asymptomatic. Everyone keeps conflating this thing with some kind of death sentence when the reality is that it's much more likely than not that if you catch it, you won't even notice.

I know a girl I went to college with who's now a Navy dependent and stay at home, and she's literally made her whole raison d'etre in being a mask Karen. If it's not nonstop Instagram stories about WEAR YOUR DAMN MASK it's BLM gobbly gook tailor made for kindergartners. Needless to say I had enough of that bullshit and unfollowed her.

Also I'm so sick of mask selfies. Most people have gross and fat faces so wearing some gimp mask definitely makes your features worse.

Has anyone else noticed that it's primarily women and in particular white women between the ages of like 18-35 that are by far the most hysterical about all this incredibly stupid mask shit?
It combines the two things they love most: Controlling other people and accessorizing.

I do know two men who are slightly hysterical about it, though. One is a teacher and the other is a SAHD. Make of that what you will.

I wonder how long until the school where my mom works closes and goes online again and how long until my uni does as well. There's already been a shit ton of schools open (because you know we can't just have online school) and then have to close because of outbreaks and kids getting sick.

Mother went in for some kind of training today. Barely anyone was wearing masks and a large group of the well-to-do teachers were in a close group together without masks. One teacher, a 75 year old who refuses to retire, actually preached to my mom about how wearing the mask isn't "common sense" and "will actually make you sick." OK boomer, you're part of the group that is being more heavily affected by this. This school is already dirty and nasty as hell so its only a matter of time.

Also, just because YOU haven't witnessed someone you know grtting it, doesn't mean that it isn't widespread and deadly. I don't personally know anyone who has or has died from AIDS but that doesn't make it the common cold.

The videos of them freaking out is a dead give away

If you add white women older than 35, I'll agree wholeheartedly.

Now, a few news from France. On the numbers, we have approximately 2k cases per day. 25 new clusters ( One very close to where I live, which is fucking annoying given that we were very close from stopping Corona-chan ( As
temporarily as it can be stopped.))

Prime Minister ordered the prefects ( Departement-level officials that represents the state and its policing power ) to edict new rules for wearing masks outside depending on the situation. So it will depend on how these fuckers judge the situation, I guess.

According to the TV health experts ( Professors and all that jazz, so get your mandatory mountain of salt before reading further ), the issues that we face can be summerized as this:

On the tests, we have roughly the same issue that the U.S have: We test people, but the results are slow and contamination cannot be stopped by these alone.

On the matter of masks, considered to be the proper way to stop Corona by them, they remain mostly unneeded outside as long as you don't breach social distancing and get too cramped in one place.

And yet the goddamn clowns in power claim that they are necessary outside after having spent the early months of confinement going off about how unneeded they were. But I digress.

Indoor, they are deemed necessary given how the virus can get everywhere and how company buildings can become a good spot for infection.

End of August marks the end of holidays for mostly everybody.
Businesses will reopen at near full capcity( Nightclubs and most indoor clubs don't, not until October 30th ),
All schools reopen with full attendance demanded ( Because online learning is a shitshow to manage )
All universities reopen as well ( A new variable, mind you, because online learning there is less shitty )

Bonus story, with a small Powerlevel: My mom is a nurse, deal with old folks that need long-term treatments and care ( Not an old folks home, mind you )

She told me about how their patients' families seemingly do not give a flying fuck about social distancing or the need to even wear a mask and ridicule the personnel that reminds them about trying to keep their parents or grandparents safe from Corona-chan.
Worse, some of her colleagues also are unwilling to confront them on that matter.

In short, we will need a lot of luck for the coming months, and I hope we have still some in store.

Edit: Universities and higher learning institutions are new players in this field, because last time, they closed shop at the very first cases.

Now:
- They have no new money to deal with this crisis from the State,
- They mostly can't free up more funds because they also have to deal with the crop of freshly diplomed highschoolers, which has reached a record high ( Because their tests in class was used to determine whether or not they passed, rather than a end-of-the year exam. )
- Inscription fees ( Main source of revenue for colleges ) are regulated on the national level and cannot be increased on a whim. ( For public universities )

No matter how you look at it, they are fucked financially and maybe we will be as well.

So Duterte was planning to try Russia's vaccine:

After volunteering to be a guinea pig for Russia's coronavirus vaccine, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte will not get the inoculation—touted by Vladimir Putin as offering "sustainable immunity" against COVID-19—until its safety is guaranteed.

Well, it is now Friday in New Zealand.

17 new cases around Auckland have been confirmed to be the result of community transmission, and the totally failed 'contact tracing' program horsefaced cunt Jacinda Ardern boasted about has failed to identify where they came from. Which suggests that coronavirus has simply been circulating freely in the population, and simply hasn't been picked up because of a failure of the government to properly conduct surveillance testing. Even now, you can only get tested if you're very sick, or you have a confirmed contact with someone known to be infected (and they're doing their best to hide the identities of those infected, so even that's hard to prove). The government is also remaining vague as to whether carriers are being allowed to 'self-isolate' (i.e. wander around freely infecting people) or actually being put in proper isolation facilities.

The government is tipped to make a decision about applying more substantial measures thisafternoon. I was skeptical from the beginning of the pandemic as to whether any capitalist government would have the guts to reimpose a fake lockdown after previous efforts failed, but at this point we've seen it happen so many times overseas that I wouldn't be surprised if they did put their fake lockdown in place again. They'll just make sure to impose the worst of all possible worlds this time round- assistance to affected businesses is being talked about as something that 'might' happen. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to keep schools open as long as possible to make sure women don't have to stay home with their kids instead of working a pink-collar job.

The opposition National party* is making a little hay out of this- their point man on the corona issue, Gerry Brownlee, had just two weeks ago been questioning whether the government either suspected or knew that their claims of stopping transmission were complete nonsense, after they warned that they expected a second wave.
Mr Hipkins' comments at today's Covid-19 briefing come after Mr Brownlee yesterday released a statement saying recent messaging from Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield "doesn't add up".
“The Government needs to come clean on what they know about the state of Covid-19 in New Zealand," Brownlee said in the release.
“We have had three months of no community transmission, then inexplicably, the Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield tells the nation today that a second wave was a likely prospect.
“As well, Health Minister Chris Hipkins tells the House in question time that tomorrow he will tell Kiwis the conditions in which they will be expected to wear masks in the event of the country moving back into Level 2.
“It doesn’t add up. Why announce this now when there are few cases? What do these guys know that they are not telling us?
“New Zealanders have already sacrificed a lot during this pandemic. The least they deserve is more honest, transparent treatment,” Mr Brownlee concluded.
When asked about the comments today, Mr Hipkins said: "I would encourage Gerry Brownlee to swap the tinfoil hat for a face mask."

So after widespread community transmission became undeniable he started doubling down.
“I just think it’s interesting,” he said, going on to list the issuance of mask guidance, Ardern’s visit to a mask factory and Bloomfield’s Covid-19 test. He then stepped away from the lectern with a slight smile playing upon his face. “What do you mean by that?,” a reporter asked. “It’s interesting. An interesting series of facts.”

Unfortunately, this country is full of pussies so he subsequently backed down and disavowed suggesting that Labour had been part of a conspiracy to cover transmission up. Fortunately, we still have colorful Maori fellas who tell little fibs about their military experience to talk about 'plandemics' and accuse Labour of knowing about this for weeks.

* which, if in office, would have probably put coronavirus sufferers into rest homes to kill the occupants faster

What makes it the "common cold" is the very low percentage of known cases resulting in a fatality, or even serious illness. Until the advent of effective retroviral treatments, HIV was a death sentence; everyone who got it inevitably died from the resulting collapse of their immune system. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Shivers is a nasty disease if it takes serious hold, but all the evidence out there now shows that it mostly doesn't take hold, unless your body is already fucked six ways to sunday. Death rates have plummeted even after rising cases, because it's killed off most of the people that would have died from it.

Kids go back to school here in a couple weeks and social distancing will be enforced. I predict teachers will be spending more time trying to keep the kids 6 feet apart and making them sanitize after touching anything than actually teaching.
How the hell are they going to enforce that when the classrooms and hallways are already so small and narrow?

Maybe I'd understand all the hysteria if it was a purple gas that turns people inside out, but it's not even close to that.

At this point, they need to bite the bullet and stop trying to shut everything down over a few "confirmed" cases.

No the actual facts make it the common cold.

I thought there was already an unofficial mandate given how stores are "encouraged" to make customers muzzled.

If this involves being forced to wear masks outdoors, within cars, or even in the privacy of our homes, he can eat shit.
