OTOH, one of the buildings you can see the protesters in front of is the Software Engineering Institute for CMU, which handles a bunch of real hush-hush contracts for the DoD. Not the best place to start making trouble if you don't want to get on the feds' radar real quick.

I was just through Sea-Tac and around the Olympic Peninsula. Aberdeen looked poor, but in such a way I really wouldn't mind living in, plus it's right by nature's splendor. Farmsteds along the Peninsula were gorgeous. Lots of BLM/Antifa car stuff and shirts in Port Angeles, Olympia, and Sea-Tac area (more of a mixed bag), but never seen as many Trump signs, right-wing bumper stickers, Gun-Show advertisements, and American flags as I did on that 101/108 loop around the peninsula. Could definitely see myself looking into that area for my not-too-distant-future move, looked cheap enough. Conceptually I knew this was the case, but it still kinda blew my mind.
I swear it's all I ever see commented on any pictures of these antifa/black supremacist armed groups on social media, even when muzzle discipline is poor. As if it's hard to keep your finger off the trigger.
I get that the meme is just a funny prank, but it's not actually wrong. I have seen a ton of right wing people doing this.

People just need to print some flyers and leave them around Portland or some other rioting hotspot.
May through September, the Olympic peninsula is just about paradise on earth. I can't recommend it enough if you like hiking and camping in the backcountry. The rest of the time it rains like hell.
Aberdeen, and the southwestern part of the state generally, is farming country, but greener and more pleasant than similar areas in the midwest or central California, in my experience. Likewise the fruit-growing areas on the east side of the mountains.

went hiking and camping in the backcountry for nearly 2 weeks. got rained on about half the time, but it was more of a constant light rain. still had a blast. didn't bother seeing Seattle, which in the past I would have taken a day or 2 to do since I was there. I wonder how common that is

Just keep property taxes in mind when considering the move, there's a a reason things haven't gone completely nuts up here regarding home values when compared to Cali for example. Also a lot of flipped houses floating around right now due to the boom of the last several years, and most of them are pigs smeared in lipstick with nontrivial issues, so stay frosty if you look to move up here.
Plenty of good people in WA, but a lotta imported fruits and nuts that swing the scales towards things being shit politically pretty consistently.

Portland's full of trustfund punks who know enough about scene politics to at least know that early skinhead culture was a mix of Jamaican and post-mod culture, wasn't really right wing or political, yadda yadda. You can still run into SHARPs (left wing skinheads) these days even now that skin culture is basically a festering corpse. Waste of time, forget it.

Fun thing about the streets of downtown Chicago, which you can see in the videos: they're very closed, without a bunch of open side streets like Portland/Seattle have. Makes it a lot easier for a PD to corral people. "Be like water" doesn't help when the container only has one outlet.
Edit: cops forced everyone they trapped to open their bags for search before they let them go. Well played, CPD.
