Up to a certain age many people who get involved in crime have a very limited ability to conceptualise consequences, this combined with a lack of self-control leads to them doing this shit. Ralph is past that age however, usually people tend to calm down by the age of 26 or thereabouts.

It was funny on the face of it when Matt would call in from between deliveries to add his 2 cents. The novelty of it meant that it almost didn't matter what he was saying at the time. If the guy just moved his boring daily topical news content to his car then he would have the benefit of a goofy gimmick setting as well as having the chance to add some desperately needed honest personality to his channel. The novelty wouldn't do much in the long run but it would still be beneficial. Talking while driving would definitely help him sound more authentic and less forced. I know a guy who plays the pokies (poker machines) who won $20,000 one month and $60,000 the next. This was about 2 years ago, with a well paid job in Occupational Therapy. The guy is now deeply in debt having lost his house after maxing out half a dozen credit cards and defaulting on mortgage payments, he lives on a friend's couch and puts almost every cent into the machines. Someone, addicted to something, especially if that thing involves a massive dopamine hit that comes with the sense of winning, will go to amazing lengths to convince themselves they're still "winning" despite reality doing everything to show them they aren't. Apart from the substances, Ralph is addicted to internet attention and the idea that he "wins" the online spats he has with everyone, that's what gives him his massive dopamine hit.
