Nah, this isn't endurance, it is lazyness and incompetence.

DSP spouts the same bravado, but staying on the internet just to be shat on in a daily basis isn't some sort of brave stand against the hordes of evil, it is just that you don't have anything else on your life, and you don't have the balls and determination to move on.

And it isn't like it is a Herculean effort either, because once you manage to gather enough paypigs, you can coast just fine if you lack the self-respect of having to be humiliated because you are incapable to move on from your internet position that you hate.

Also, by looking at both Ralph and DSP, turns out there is quite a heavy price to such "standing", and I don't think anyone else would think it is worth to age like this, when a better and more worthy life is out there for those with the guts to pursue it.

Ralph is white trash and he probably inherited the condition. They were something like 160% underwater over the actual value of the home by the time it was foreclosed on, so it could've been as simple as not paying the note each month or when they financed they got one of those fucked up balloon situations where everything compounded if it wasn't paid off by a certain date.

I'm learning more towards just not paying the note though. Ralph loves to brag about how he almost got a degree and a fuckload of student loan debt he'll never pay because "fawk the guvernment" or something. Just the kind of bullshit you'd expect from a poli-sci major.

If they're going to rent, they could get a better place. More importantly, Gunt boy has enough money to take out a down payment on a mortgage on a much nicer house.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with him? Nothing is stopping Ralph. His mom has an excuse, she has dialysis and can't drive herself to view homes. but Ralph is just a lazy alcoholic, and apparently refuses to look at homes to move his family into. He has the money. I bet his unpaid student loads are causing him problems... Also the felony. I was behind a month or two when I needed a small loan for something and they made me pay it up before they would let me sign. I have since paid it in full btw.

Actually, it's possible he's not doing it because of his massive debts. If you have to pay fines for a felony, you may have government services cut off (for refusal to pay over several month). But nonpaying of those felonious debts is inexcusable, they will usually except even extremely small payments.

Ralph is one of these neets who lives on the internet (not judging anyone... 😉). He is happy to live in a shed with his mother, so long as he has internet access. Fuck he'd live in a literal pig pen so long as it has good wi-fi and the rent is low enough to enable his alcoholism.

He's a felon, parking in federal parking illegally, with no ID and a knife in his car and somehow still skates by. He even admitted to arguing with federal police.

People keep saying that he's going to die soon, but people this shitty literally tend to live on pure spite alone much longer than they ever should.

It's true, reminds me of a friend's dad who is lives much like Ethan but is still somehow alive nearing his elderly years after several car accidents, street fights, failed marriages, stints in jail and repeated hepatitis infections. At least that guy actually lived a life outside his mom's house part of the day though, Ralph only leaves to retrieve liquor and food or to "own the alogs" on trips to the free museum.

This sounds exactly like typical addict behavior. A normal person will not live in a "pig sty with Internet access," but an addict is totally fine with living in complete squalor, as long as they have their booze/drugs.
