On the contrary, they are banking on a base that has fully absorbed doublethink. To follow The Party, you don't just ignore the contradictions; you must believe they are true.
War Is Peace
Freedom Is Slavery
Ignorance Is Strength
Kamala is BLM
I know people accuse Nate Silver and his 538 site of TDS, but I look at their projections, and I want to think Nate is at least smart enough to see that he's projecting Biden to win Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida, all the swing states that Trump won in 2016, and not at least be suspicious that there is a flaw in his formula somewhere.
I also like that Ohio, North Carolina, and Arizona are all "tossups" even though all three of them also went to Trump in 2016.
I also like that Cindy McCain's endorsement of Biden is somehow supposed to be huge. Yet Trump said John McCain wasn't a war hero and that he likes the guys that don't get caught during McCain's lifetime and still carried Arizona in 2016.

It's not a flaw in Silver's formula, it's that polls are a biased guessing game that are silly to use for statistical analysis. Which Nate is 100% aware of as a massive statistical nerd himself. But, he cashed in big time so he has to keep this up.

I mean, he should be suspicious because everything he does is based on publicly published polling. Polls in 2016 seemed to have overestimated Democratic turnout or sampled too many Democrats or something along those lines. If Biden has less enthusiasm than Clinton, being suspicious of the current polling is warranted.
Call me optimistic, but as things currently stand, I could only see Biden maybe carrying Michigan of all those states, but that's a big maybe.
This timeline is amazing. The Iraq war was possibly the biggest fuck-up of America for decades, destabilized the middle east, cost us lives and trillions of dollars to only get bogged down in tribal grudges and sectarian violence that doesn't concern us, and made the Republican party toxic for a decade. Now they're bringing in Colin Powell, who appeared before the UN claiming WMDs. On top of that, they have Biden who voted to authorize it as a senator. I know that the Iraq war is no longer a hot issue, but if Trump doesn't use this to turn the Democrats into the war party, literally every rightwing shitposter will.
I don't think so. Democrats are much more virtue signally about popular causes. Demoralization hits them harder, because then you can't show off. Republicans are the quiet party. Get in, and do what you want with little fanfare. Trump is the exception, but even then he's very different from Obama doing faggot dances on Ellen or Clinton harpy screeching on the view.
Republicans also want to punish every Democrat they can. It's not just the president - I plan on voting straight Republican down to dog catcher if I can. The Democrats double standards have became so egregious, it's almost impressive.
You can't have funerals/Fentanyl Floyd get a royal procession
You can't open your business/protestors can mass together
You can't visit grandma/ we can house COVID patients in nursing homes
You're racist/ whitey deserves this
Protesting lockdowns is unacceptable/ rioting is not only acceptable but supporting them is mandatory
Guns for self-defense are bad/ armed robbery of pregnant women is unimportant
You don't need a gun because of police / well, we're actually getting rid of them too
Men with guns are just standing there, Menacingly! / We did it Patrick, we peacefully burned down the city!
Hydrochloroquine is dangerous and untested/ transition surgeries for minors are wonderful
Police are inherently wrong/ A corrupt DA is a great choice for VP
Trump fumbles a few words means he's unfit/ Biden's visible decline is a conspiracy
Body and sex shaming is bad/ you microdicked incel loser
Bake the cake bigot/ umm, sweety, it's a private company so they can control what you say on there
Homeschooling is dangerous because parents aren't teachers and may teach inappropriately/ drag queens wanting to read to kids isn't inappropriate or suspect at all
Republicans supposedly support conversion therapy/ gender clinics
I could go on, but point being is that Republicans want to hit back, and thanks to corrupted DA's, the sycophant media, and moloch-affilated big businesses, the polls are one of the few legal ways left. I think even a Jeb! canidate would have massive turnout, simply cause that's where Republicans can turn out.
Regarding your "last legal ways", I always remember the saying: "Soap, ballot, jury, ammo."
Soap box is admittedly heavily diminished, so we're onto ballot. Personally I want to skip jury if we lose ballot, but I also don't want to be fed-posting.

If we lose ballot, look forward to every Lefty mole in Righty institutions, every Never Trumper, every Conservative, Inc. RINO to swarm forward going "SEE, NATIONAL POPULISM is a failure, GLOBALISM IS THE FUTURE!" and every lesson of the past 5 years to be stomped into the memory hole as hard as they can get it.
Also, suddenly any protests, peaceful or otherwise, will be illegal with the full force of every jack booted thug they can find behind stopping them. What, you think the establishment would let white people riot for 3 months trying to murder feds every single night?
No surprise there; Not only did they pick the most boring basic bitch DC-bubble candidates, but with all the riots, corona, and other bullshit to deal with who has time to watch virtue-signaling political theater?
The left is wanting to use mail in voting to steal the election. To do so, they need to force Trump to give the Post Office, which has an ungodly powerful lefty union, a shitload of money.
My biggest concern is that American voters overwhelmingly vote on how they see the economy going, and it's currently in the shitter.
You can give all the usual explanations, like "it's China's fault, Trump didn't shut down cities the governors did, nothing anyone could do", etc. But they don't matter; it's a question of how the electorate feels about the economy, and if it's negative it automatically goes against the incumbent.
I wish Trump had another 1-2 months to let the bounce back be fully felt. I still think he was planning for a "grand re-opening of America for business" style campaign at the Republican convention, but had to cancel, and thus lost his best pitch for re-election.
If everyone is still depressed about the economy by the end of October, the Rust Belt states are easily in play.
Troon's sjws and the DNC have been heavily pushing the idea that Corona Chan makes it too dangerous to go outside and vote and that voting should be restricted to mail in ballots. Trump has responded by cutting the post office's budget which made them shriek even louder.
To most people not blinded by partisan politics, it appears to be a very blatant attempt to rig the election by the left.

More importantly, someone who is too scared to vote in person should not be allowed to vote in the first place. The vote is the one method of force the population has against the State and if you are too cowardly to use it without State hand holding then you would also most likely be too scared to defend the Republic if it ran into hard times, and may in fact work against its survival in exchange for safety and comfort.
What is funny is the same people saying its too dangerous to vote in person are all for large crowds of "peaceful protesters" swarming down a city street. The intellectual hypocricy of the Democratic Party stopped being cute a few years ago. its become absolutely contemptible.
