I just bought land about 2ish years ago and got 12 acres with a predug well and electricity on the land for half of that. His area isn't... great, so 100k is just absurd to me. There's still a ton of cheap housing and land in the US.

Is it developing now? My experience with that area some years back wasn't very pleasant. It had the downtown "touristy" restaurants that every other place has, but aside from that most of the housing wasn't great. Could just be an outdated bias.

Reading up on Landlord Retaliation right now and as long as ER doesn't do anything illegal involving the house, it seems at first glance that it would be considered illegal to raise the rent if they could prove it was retaliatory.
