Cuyahoga county has been downgraded from code red

Let's see if my friends will stop being pussies.

I love watching that map slowly flip back to more yellows. DeWine has a plan though, he's now going to be testing nursing homes and their staff. Finally, after months of this and 2/3s of Ohio's deaths being from Nursing Homes is he now going to address it. And just to make sure we get the maximum cases possible, he's ordering them to test everyone, 100% compliance.

He also went back to spouting 90% mask compliance, which he may have in certain circumstances, but the last time he made that claim was April/May when people were starting to ditch them after numbers cratered the first time. Still amusing though, Columbus is still red. So the other two major cities are seeing their numbers drop consistantly, like they were before the mandates, but he can't get the capital to stop being fuck ups. It's the entire story of Columbus, in a way.

Michigan, USA

The second wave has still not materialized. ~5 deaths a day in the Detroit tri-counties and ~5 everywhere else.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) is still claiming emergency power, mandating the wearing of masks in public spaces, limiting indoor gatherings to 10 people, and outdoor gatherings to 100.

Governor Whitmer has signed a three-bill package dealing with the reopening of schools. The package "largely leaves it to local districts to determine school reopening methods and guidelines, taking local COVID-19 metrics and recommendations from individual health departments into account."
"The plan doesn’t require districts to offer in-person education options to be eligible for state funding."
"Districts will have to provide at least two two-way interactions a week between at least 75 percent of enrolled students and their teachers."

Michigan State University, after having previously announced that there would be in-person learning, has switched to entirely online courses.

The University of Michigan is still having in-person classes, but police will be patrolling, looking for parties. It should be noted, however, that they do that in normal circumstances, too. Washtenaw County, home of the U of M, has limited outdoor gatherings to 25 people. Governor Whitmer has limited indoor gatherings to 10 people statewide.

In NYC, including asymptomatic cases, 0.86%. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3590771

US-wide, symptomatic cases only, 1.3%. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32379502/

In Switzerland, 0.32%. It's essentially zero until you hit age 50-64 (0.14%), then you enter the death zone at 65 (5.6%). https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30584-3/fulltext

It hits people living in nursing homes hardest, and also people with multiple lifestyle diseases. That's why the US rate is terrible, we're all fat and the idiots in charge refused to protect our elders. (Sorry, I got a feeling in your facts.)

See https://swprs.org/studies-on-covid-19-lethality/ for an overview of many countries with links to studies.
You got case numbers for texas as well? I'm a texss kiwi and i wanna know the numbers.

At this point, I'm just wondering why all these schoolkids aren't just an heroing all over the place. This has got to be the single worst time you could be a kid.
No going outside at all, no seeing friends IRL, you have to sit through the most retarded teleconferences run by incompetent teachers, your family is likely losing more and more money by the day and you can't help that because you're a kid, and to top it all off the adults are debating weather to keep you on house arrest or send you back to school. Where life will be wearing a mask all day long, and you know that you will get in huge trouble if you step out of line because of The Virus, with even more insane rules you will have to follow.
And you just know that Halloween is cancelled this year, mark my words.

Sorry to most people in this thread that have had this dawn on them fully this year but yeah people are fucking lemmings that dont think for themselves at all unless in direct mortal danger. Even then some will gladly die for meager fame or recognition. Sorry folks. I'm so sorry.

Not to mention no visiting Santa this Christmas and the fact parents arent going to be able to afford much this year, especially if they owned a "non essential" business.

This whole thing is insane. When I quote the numbers of the CDC indicating corona isn't as big of a risk as we thought, doomers just start saying "Well Trump gutted the CDC, so we can't trust what comes out of there!" Wtf? The whole point of this shit started on statistics and data and predictions from the WHO and CDC. And if you can't trust the CDC, why trust any of it? Wouldn't than mean fuck it all and live life as normal?

I have a feeling this crap will last about five to ten years. Future generations will hopefully look back on these times as lunacy on a mass scale and they will hold fast to the few freedoms we have. There is a need for adventure and curiosity in humans that the masses are trying to shut down. It's scary, but I am happy to have cultivated my bunker, ahem, I mean home, into a paradise. Others aren't so lucky. Especially, the single youth. It's tough out there, guys. I wanna have faith but it is so hard....

To the researchers reading this thread in the future: We love you, and we hope you're OK. This shit isn't normal and you shouldn't accept it as such.

All these idiotic bootlickers in this shitty country are starting to piss me off. No one can think for themselves, they all worship the government and do what they’re told without thinking about how to apply things logically. Before the mandatory mask rule no one wanted to wear the mask but now that it’s compulsory everyone is doing a complete 180° and acting like people who don’t wear masks are evil. While I only wear masks to avoid Karens and fines, the amount of shit I’ve gotten from random people because I didn’t wear one is fucking insane. Same with when I pull my mask down for a second. People stop what they’re doing to gawk at you and give dirty looks, people have deliberately blocked me in the streets and tried to intimidate me and people talk shit all because I’ve walked from my property to the property that’s literally next door, I’m not even going far. Yet no one seems to gives a shit that the government lets people who have tested positive freely roam the streets because apparently they covid patients are in “prison conditions” when everyone else is only allowed outside for 1 hour, can’t go outside 5km of their home. The worst part is all they let international students (read: chinks) come into the country and do as they please while people can’t cross state borders even if they have a dying family member. I hate this country, I hate the government, I hate all these crazy brainless bootlickers and I hate this shithole country. I was ready to move back home but then the slit eye shit flu hit.

Seems many here IRL are starting to think this "new normal" really is the new normal - permanent. I don't think I want to live in a place where everyone is a germaphobe - enforced by law.

Again, I really hope those who say this madness will end with the 2020 election are right. I will likely never forget this crazy circus, even if the "woke" left who pushed all this crap try to memory-hole it. And I certainly plan on never voting Democrat.

This one is.
It's really not given that it spreads with more than just simply coughing.
If you actually read the antibody study used for this study
>Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.

OC43 and 229E are the common cold retard.

It may not end in November, although some of the governors want to mess with the election. The lock downs will end once state tax revenue starts to drop off and the extra NEET bux go away. The states can play their stupid games because the Feds are subsidizing it. Or were. Shaving $300 off is going to have an effect.

I still think there's a chance we might actually see a governor dragged out of a state capital by an angry mob, I just don't know that it'll be Whitmer.

Infection is caused by inhaling virions. Wear a proper mask and wash your hands before you touch your face, you won't inhale enough to get infected. Or don't wear a mask, and don't spend a lot of time in close contact with other people.

I've seen some for New York that are higher, but it's not worth doing a literature review for a few tenths of a percent. There are multiple studies from all over the world converging on a sub-1% IFR, assuming you live in a functioning first world nation, which obviously excludes NYC.

I know it's fucked up, but I'm starting to think that's goal. Maybe a shot at communism? No idea. All I know is Biden's ads have been saying nation wide mask mandates. That's all he had to say to make me say "Fuck it, I'm voting Trump." I'm voting for a man I hate. A man I once protested against. Because I'm a fucking American and I'm not tolerating the last of my freedoms being taken from me for meaningless crap. I'm not living in a world online. I'm not living in a world without concerts, lively bars, and busy streets.

a piece of cloth does fuck all to protect you, unless you wear a full on respirator that doesn't just block "enough" of it, it filters all of it. that's the whole fucking point.

stop being stupid.

I don't know what to think anymore... I genuinely think our only hope at this point is if the drop in tax revenue next season is severe enough to snap all the little dictators out of this tirade, because even at this point people have become completely conditioned to this "new normal" dystopian shit that they will gladly nod their heads at pushes to drag this madness out for years if not fucking indefinitely, let alone post-election with more time passed under this regime-lite existence.

The power of public opinion has fucking failed spectacularly, so we're almost totally at the mercy of these dickheads deciding that their power trip is over (and we all know how nearly impossible it is for those who suddenly gained newfound power overnight to just give it up).
