I'm open to empathizing with and helping non-offending pedophiles in their struggles with mental illness, but it's really clear that Dick is simply hijacking that cause for even the smallest chance at winning. He absolutely doesn't want to admit fucking up once again in his choice for friendship. With everything Dick told Null, he basically expressed to Digibro and other pedophiles that
- it is okay to escape with simulations of child porn (which is false because it strengthens the connection between sexual impulse and sexual imagery of kids)
- people who enjoy loli are really just fantasizing about themselves (which is actually worse since people like Digibro are fundamentally incapable of becoming little girls in sexual situations, which could inspire him to "live through others")
- Null is completely baseless in his accusation (which is false and prevents the people who really need to self-reflect from self-reflecting)
If Dick really cared about Digibro, he would be bringing him up to speed with the rest of
reality. When he makes up excuses and claims that there's nothing wrong with these people, he is feeding into a delusion that prevents any chance of recovery or normal life. And it's not going to be a problem that Dick faces - it's potentially going to be that future victim that was forced to endure the deluded and unending fantasies of a man addicted to hardcore child pornography. Who cares if it's drawn or not at that point?
But let's be honest, does Dick really give a shit? What are these if not the failed attempts to absolve himself of the guilt by association with Digibro?
