So I read Mr. Vickers' timeline of events & had a long thunk about it, & while no parent is perfect & there might be more to the story, I rescind my previous judgement about him being a shitty parent.
Mental illness is a minefield, personality disorders doubly so. You can develop a personality disorder, like Borderline, without being abused or neglected by your parents. (In fact, you can have a genetic predisposition to it.) Look at Bex Gerber

(Lowtax's thread) ; the former is a sheltered, spoiled womanchild who drank the SocJus Koolaid & went batshit crazy, & the latter is a sheltered, spoiled womanchild who spent too much time online, shacked up with an older Internet-(in)famous divorcé, & got her shit kicked in by both reality & the aforementioned divorcé. Starting to sound familiar, isn't it.
The point is that both Bex & Logan came from stable, traditional homes with doting, well-meaning, but enabling parents that unwittingly reinforced their bad behavior. I'm thinking this is what happened to Faith. Ma & Pa Vickers tried to give their daughter her space & indulged her (homeschooling when she asked, not stepping in to restrict her Internet use or make her clean her room because they didn't want to be too overbearing, etc.), & now they're paying for it. I don't think that makes them bad parents. I think they sincerely believed they were doing everything they could to help their daughter grow into a mature young lady, maybe even going out of their way not to repeat the mistakes their parents made, & wound up with a spoiled brat.
Now, I don't necessarily agree with Mr. Vickers taking to the Internet to get his daughter back. I think he should have stepped in & laid down the law a lot earlier in Faith's development. But all I'm seeing now are the actions of a desperate father who wants the best for his little girl but has no idea how to do it. & frankly, I don't know how he should do it, either. How do you reach an emotionally unstable girl who doesn't want to get better & spits in your face when you try to act like, God forbid, her parent?
Which brings us to now, I suppose.

Matthew mate, one last word of advice. Do not go down this path. Don't invite people to fuck with you. You don't know who is behind any username, everyone knows who is behind mattwvickers. People know who Ethan, Thaddeus and Ariana are.
You are currently in good graces with the community, but if you under deliver or over promise that can instantly change.
