Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Forum sliding has always been the most retarded conspiracy theory this side of the Mandela Effect. Newbies or light users who don't lurk and don't get the culture necroing threads they were binging isn't a targeted conspiracy to drive whatever outrage bait got posted here out of view.

It's not the outrage bait they are trying to drive off, and just getting it off the first page tends to be good enough.

Most new users are probably too young to know about forum etiquette, probably coming here from Reddit or something, and don't see anything wrong with necroposting. To be honest, I don't see anything wrong with necroing a thread as long as you're adding to the discussion, I find it more annoying when people make a new thread because the current one is two years old, TBH.

Besides, it doesn't affect people who post in the threads that get bumped off the main page, they'll still get their notifications of new posts in the threads they're watching.

Thing is they are never contributing anything to it, it's always some inane comment that somebody else probably already said earlier in the thread in some fashion.

We already know from unsealed warrant applications that the feds post on niche political discussion forums, and their IDs have been tracked back to posts pushing some narratives and trying to disrupt others. It's just a matter of whether (1) Kiwifarms A&N is considered as worthy of disruption as 8chan was, and (2) whether sliding is an efficient method of accomplishing that disruption. Not saying that every necropost has a fed behind it, but I don't think either point is settled enough to call sliding itself a retarded conspiracy theory.
