Trump will not round up academics and expel them a la Pinochet. Not even close.Arguing against myself?
The elites do purge themselves all the time, and if COVID-19 and the bigwigs losing control of the attack dogs they spent the last four years coddling aren't a disruptive event, then I don't know what it.
I'd say Trump is a disruptor but not in the way most Q-Boomers see him as. He's a disruptor in not what he does but how the bigwigs freaked out over him winning the 2016 election and going all in on the frog boiling. A second term is the kind of kick in the balls that makes them realize that 2016 was not a fluke and they need to pacify and placate instead of tripling down on making the bread too costly and turning the circuses into sermons.
In 2020, the plan was supposed to enter the next phase and coronavirus was one of those rare golden opportunities especially when coupled with George Floyd's death but they've tried to push way too much way too fast and nobody's wanting the "New Normal" and that new normal isn't conducive to the bottom line of the neoliberal corporatists, either politically or financially.
Too much has happened way too fast and people are fed up, even if they're too scared to voice it publicly right now. They're not as scared as they were three months ago but it's still an issue of optics and keeping your head down for the next three months.
I've said this many times, but I think the bigwigs doubled down after 2016 because they took all the wrong lessons from it. Hillary Clinton narrowly won the popular vote and Bernie Sanders went from a "Literally Who?" even among Vermont boomers to a household name among the Millennials and Early Zoomers, so they figured they needed to triple down on leftism and woke shit.
He punishes countries that deal with faggots though.
Not much disruption going on there either.
