Well Sanger's beliefs at least shared a not-insignificant amount of overlap with Nazis'. This isn't a "Hitler drank water" argument. The modern left calls people Nazis for committing one hundredth of the thoughtcrime of Margaret Sanger. She had far more in common with the modern alt right than the modern left.

It's just weird that they're finally acknowledging that after downplaying and denying it for so long.

Yeah but that means the concept itself has legs, it means it has value regardless of how much the person may not like you personally. Richard Spencer is a great example, you can be on the alt right and catholic even though he's a gay pagan. His fallout with the Right is mainly people just don't like his ideas or behavior, they could probably forgive all the other shit if he was doing anything other than doing awful movie reviews and complaining that nobody is as effective as him.

For me, the irony is how Spencer and his cronies consider themselves the world's aristocracy. They're the "master race", they white knight for "Western Civilization", they appropriate Bach, Shakespeare, etc. as a legacy somehow reflecting their superiority over other people. But in reality, they are rabble rousers and as much part of the ignorant mob as the "octoroons" they despise.

As for Spengler's ideas having legs, Spengler was very insightful about capitalism and democracy, and how their "internal contradictions" (to borrow a Marxist term) open the door for populist dictators ("Ceasars") to seize power. Spengler's other insights tend to be about how cultures are so relative they are unintelligible to each other, and cultures are built from a people's shared experience as opposed to the 20th century racial ideas popular in his day.

Where I take issue is how Spengler tries shoehorning the patterns he sees in Faustian/"Western" history in all the civilizations of the past to fit his big thesis on how cultures grow and die in predictable cycles. It's easy enough to draw parallels to Apollonian (Greek and Roman) history, but the comparisons to Chinese and Mexican civilizations are forced and unconvincing.

You're looking at it wrong. For the useful idiots it's nothing but another dopamine hit from outrage followed by a flex of social power, but for the people pulling the strings it's about far more. "He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past." Susie and Maggie were revered women who had problematic ideas. Can't let people keep revering about them, because they might start learning about those ideas and decide they're respectable, or at least that people can hold them without being utterly evil and inhuman. History must continually be rewritten and white women are taking a tumble down the progressive stack, with the recent Karen business. It's time to replace Susie and Maggie with that black trannie from Stonewall as the person little girls should aspire to be like.

But can you really "cancel" someone like Sanger? Its not like she is some obscure philosopher and her legacy would evaporate if people could not read her works. Lots of things she pushed for and worked for now are either accepted as normal or are actual institutions. Sure, random people will probably not hear about her takes on eugenics, but the fact that birth control and abortions (even if she was not that big of a fan of those) are such a big part of the modern world pushes us towards eugenics regardless.

Thinking about it I think that Sanger's work might be a good example of slippery slope argument, no? Once you accept that birth control is ok then you'll move towards eugenics one way or another, only question is how fast you'll arrive there. Heck, people being unaware of this link between birth control and eugenics probably makes movement towards full eugenics society even harder to stop/slow down.

As some people have already pointed out, aside from being a white nationalist Spencer has a fair bit in common politically with left leaning Democrats. This is the guy who put an Iranian flag on his bio after Soleimani was killed. So this really isn't as shocking as people who only know him as Mr. Wignat think it is.

Spencer and his coterie of remaining Twitter orbiters (mostly the blackface wignat crew) believe that if the Democrats capture the presidency in November that they're going crack down on the Antifa/BLM unrest and let the good times roll around for a few years to make people complacent.
