Not to delve too deep into my personal life, but before I went to a school with a high diversity quota (32 students in my class, only five of them were able to speak german), I was heavily indoctrinated by my teachers on left wing ideals. Not just lectures or exercises, but also the school books. I come from a blue collar family and rarely saw my dad, mostly only sundays where he spent most of his days on the couch sleeping. In the afternoon however, he sometimes glanced over my homework and talked to me about social and political topics.
I remember very clearly how he chuckled with a smirk and looked deeply into my eyes, saying „someday, when you’re old enough to work and have to provide for this family or maybe your own, you‘ll see how the world really works.“
And just a few years later, I slowly started to realize what he meant. And I couldn’t be happier about what he taught me.
Even if you smell like a wet dog after a hard day of work, it’s still honest work.

When that happens you’ll understand why these things don’t work.” Shoe and these others could benefit greatly from some working class father’s tough love.
