Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

Two police officers and the subject aren't in front of the vehicle in your screen shot, yet somehow they made it to the opposite side of the vehicle. We cannot see the front of the van after the first few seconds. By your logic the shooting never happened because we can't see it in your screenshot. I thought the woman who runs up screaming came from around the front of the vehicle when I made my comment and when looking this morning it seems like she comes from the opposite side of the street.

The point is that the vehicle itself can be used as a deadly weapon.

A mid-size SUV can weigh around 4,400lbs now just imagine an SUV weighing that much barreling at you at high speeds, if that isn't a fucking deadly weapon I'd love to find out exactly what it is. Or if you're a Euro I'd imagine you would be pretty knowledgeable about trucks-of-peace culturally enriching your communities, those trucks likely weigh even more and look at the damage they can cause.

I see a pattern here...

This guy completely lacks the "gun pointed at me, DANGER" reflex that normal humans have.

The appropriate response is to instill that fear in them by repeated application of high velocity lead. Usually they only benefit from the lesson very briefly, but others may well learn from the example. In any case, the immediate issue is permanently resolved

I never said the shooting never happened. Just that there was no one standing in front of the van in the entire video that was at risk of getting run over when the guy went to the door. The police followed and smartly went to the side immediately. When the perp opens the door, there still isn't anyone to run over unless he did a serious U turn.
You literally cannot see the front of the vehicle for the majority of the video.

No, but we see a very clear shot that there was nobody there in the first place, at the beginning. Just because the camera zooms in, doesn't mean people suddenly showed up down the street as bowling pins.
Let me break this down for you as best as I can. There is nobody in front of the vehicle at the front of the vehicle at the start of the video. Your screenshot proves that. At least three people move in front of the vehicle over the course of the video that we can see. This means that people who were not in front of the vehicle at the start of the video can end up in front of the vehicle during the course of the video. We do not have a view in front of the vehicle for most of the video. More people could have moved in front of the vehicle that we could not see. There could be more people outside of the frame watching from a distance in the street. We do not know.

Regardless. A vehicle is a deadly weapon. The police will not just let you jump in your whip and lead them on a highspeed chase endangering their lives and the lives of anyone else who may be on or near the road.

Yeah I actuslly kinda agree with that. The "la-la-la-I-cant-fucking-hear-you" slow walkaway is often a setup for an attack on cop. Seen some claims there was no gun found, so I'm seriously at loss as to what the fuck the jogger was trying to do. He was definitely reaching for something rather than just trying to get behind the wheel.
My eyes see a black object that could be a gun on the ground next to the driver side door. When he opens the driver door he looks to me to be reaching to the ground and the object when he was shot. Anyone else seeing that?

Yes, the perp and the two officers all walk in front of the idle vehicle.

When he actually gets to the door and opens it, all 3 are clearly out of the way.

Then you see this girl cross in front of the vehicle, getting upset but by then, the guy is full of holes and isn't driving anywhere.

There is something on the ground by the diver's side the entire video, but it looks to me that he is clearly reaching for something inside the vehicle. It is by his left while he has the car door open. The cops would have shot him for getting near it if it was a gun.

Wisconsin sexual assault offences:

2nd degree
sexual contact or intercourse, without consent, with a retard

I lol'd.

Back on topic, I agree that once the guy started fishing around in the car, he was fair game. I'm just wondering how 4 officers failed to even make an attempt at physically restraining one guy casually walking away from them against their orders at gunpoint.

Do we need to put these lazy ass cops in BJJ so they learn how to control unruly morons? Serious question.

I'm getting pretty sick of seeing this as well. Are these greased up criminals too slippery to cuff once they're on the ground?
We need body cams to show what exactly happened, we only see the very end.

Looking at the video, look at the guy's stance as he approaches said vehicle. He looks determined, aggressive, unruly. Anything could've happened had he got his way.

For people talking about police reforms, your words will fall into deaf ears. The reactions given from American police shootings has been astronomically horrific and massive the past couple months. Even if police reform WOULD happen from these events, the public and media has done more than enough damage to where it wouldn't even MATTER anymore. Does the ends justify the means?

It's now about race without even knowing the full context of events. This guy had priors, this guy was uncooperative during a stop through his own volition, ultimately he paid the price. That's all I see.

The left side is going "innocent Black man gunned down by racist police, all out riot" mode; the right side is going "nigger acted stupid, got rightfully shot. now wait for chimpout mode, blacks are criminals by default." There's no middleman in this.

Nobody has learned anything; it'll be the same old song and dance further escalated because nobody knows how to act properly. Now another American city will be reduced to ashes because rioting is now looked at as "peaceful protesting."
