If the NG in their armored vehicles had rolled down the wide single street where all the burnings took place, it would have helped. But their orders seemed to be very specific. This governor does not want a proper occupying force, he doesn't even want an order-keeping force; he wants to keep the symbols of power safe while the rest of the town fends for itself.

Ask him what he would do if an armed gang of crackheads tried to ransack his house and kill his family. Point out that arms and legs are much harder to hit than a torso. Death sucks balls, but sometimes there's no way to deescalate a situation without it.

I get it, man. So sorry. I have to word it awkwardly to not pl but I am in the weird position of having to dance around some people who should be close loved ones and allies because I don't trust that they would not throw me under the bus for The Movement anymore. Can't tell them what I really think about anything, of course, but also can't just avoid topics completely because they are so into the cult mindset they put out little tests and traps all the time to make sure I am not engaging in wrongthink. I refuse to go any farther than politely dodging political topics to stick to common interests. So mostly we have just drifted farther and farther apart over the years which is fucking idiotic.
