Three things stick out to me in this whole scenario, first of all the first nog that knocks our gunman over, it looks like to me that the shot that gets fired at him goes up in between his arms and right past his face but somehow never hits. That motherfucker better be at home praying to Aunt Jemima for a month after that lucky break and before the police show up to lock his ass up for assault.
Second is the skateboard guy getting shot. He hits gunman with skateboard and then grabs the gun, it looks and sounds like the gun barrel was pressed into flesh when fired since you barely hear the shot, and given the angles that shot probably ruptured all of his core organs in some way shape or form, and probably liquified his lungs and/or heart. I only have deer hunting to go off of, but every time I have seen a deer go down like he did, it was a heart shot.
And lastly, video games and movies have spoiled me with gratuitous blood and gore, but since I saw the end result before the video, I kind of expected more blood and meat exploding from that wound. Its still a very neat effect going on there, too bad its such low quality otherwise a super slow mo shot of that would be entertaining as fuck, like a slow mo guys shot of his elbow turning into shrapnel would be the ultimate gore shot.
Anyways, the way I see it is shooter should be in the clear so long as he does not get kangaroo court. No jury is going to look at that video and go "nah bra you were safe as could be and not in fear for your safety." And anyone that does should be forced to let someone hit them in the head with a skateboard to see how in fear for their safety they are.

A question for people who've actually read more than maybe 1-2% of this thread. Are any community leaders taking advantage of this whole deal to make a little money? It seems like if you were an up and coming Jesse Jackson type, not national, just regional, there'd be good money to be made by getting together some of the bigger brothers and hiring them out to local high-risk businesses to hang around and tell anyone trying one on that Jay-Z owns this Nike outlet or jewellery store or whatever. If this isn't happening, that's a sad judgement on America's black leaders.

I'm unsure why the police are saying the shooter is on the run. There were reports at first that the shootings were two different people (and in that case would make the second shooter straight up in the right, no debate about it) but I thought it ended up being said that it was all only one shooter? If it was all one shooter, you can clearly see him turn himself in to the cops in the footage.

We don’t know the circumstances that led to this, but I can’t imagine you can prosecute someone who was on the ground and had multiple people in a mob running towards them. The shooter showed a great deal of restraint and didn’t shoot anyone that wasn’t making any contact. Like look at the 3rd guy: he doesn’t shoot him until the guy makes the choice to attack him. This is one of those situations where even if he “technically” broke the law (we don’t even know if he actually did at this point), good people should use jury nullification.
We used to have no sympathy for rioters and looters in this country. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. What kind of a retard rushes a guy armed with a long gun with no cover and no weapons of their own when the armed individual isn’t shooting at you? If you aren’t armed, it’s “run, hide, fight” in that order. The guy was retreating, had fallen over, and was armed he wasn’t a threat until they attacked him.

'hundreds of feet per second' doesn't do it justice. every bullet, even 22lr, travels at hundreds (rather, thousands) of feet per second.
the thing with rifle calibers like 5.56 is that they are a LOT faster than handgun calibers. 22lr for example will usualyl have muzzle velocity of 1200 ft/s while 5.56 will have almost 3000 ft/s. that's almost triple the velocity.
and the big deal about this is that the projectile's kinetic energy scales not just linearly with its velocity, but quadratically. it's half the bullet mass times the square of the bullet velocity. as a result, a 22lr round at 1200 ft/s has a kinetic energy of roughly 180 joules, but a 5.56 round at 3000 ft/s has almost 1800 joules of kinetic energy. that's literally ten times more kinetic energy, which means the bullet hits ten times harder.
that's why 5.56 bullets will rip chunks of flesh out of your body and shatter your bones while 22lr will just put little holes into you even though it's the same caliber and the bullet is only slightly bigger
(another comparison: common 9mm handgun ammo will be around 500 joules of kinetic energy, so the 5.56 AR is still almost four times more heavy hitting than that)

Again, it's not surprsing if the Police are hunting down the shooters, even if they acted in self defense.
The State has to crack down on this, they have no choice at this point, because too much of their bureaucrats have openly backed the opposite faction and if they do nothing the United States will unironicly have Paramilitary Groups opening fire on each other by the end of the year.
