If they weren't so misguided and so dead set on approaching each and every subject with terminal retardation and wearing some pretty thick ideological blinders, they might be able to make a few good points. I really didn't oppose the original OWS 'movement' very much at all because for as cringy as they behaved during that period, at least they had a coherent point. Likewise I could always find some common ground with the Anti-War Left because fucking around in the sandpit was very expensive, got a lot of great men injured and killed, and didn't accomplish much until very, very recently. Funnily enough, the Anti-War Left has all but disappeared, they've been missing since the first Obama years and still haven't returned since the left now busies themselves with bitching about Trump bringing troops home because the Orange Man is Bad.

Likewise, they could have approached this police issue with any amount of tact or coherence and they would find supporters in various walks of life. No-knock warrants and the endless drug war are two major issues they could've gained some ground on. However, given that they harassed the man responsible for trying to make no-knocks illegal [Rand Paul] and hate his guts, I don't think they're very concerned with that. There are some genuine issues with policing in this country that they could've brought attention to rather than...burning sections of cities down, looting, beating the shit out of people and breaking windows.

I'm not necessarily angry with the individuals, they're stupid but it's obvious they don't fully understand the scope of what they're embroiled in, at the same time I'm not going to lose any sleep whenever a few of them get picked off, arrested or beaten. They're essentially just pawns or footsoldiers of people we should be rightfully angry with. They think they're affecting those people too, but really they're just playing into their hand.

Well, probably... that was the idea all along; co-opt the the previous anti-corporate anti-war left, that was a thorn in the side of the corporations and the military industrial complex, and turn them into their own weapon. You have to admit it's worked rather well.

Also in retrospect, I actually got a little upset thinking about this ending, which I admit is messed up and wrong of me. I dunno, finding something interesting to look forward to every night was nice. =(
