As someone that has had to deal with Apple, publishing on the App Store is like getting fucked in the arse. Imagine if you sell a subscription service (like spotify), to do it through the app Apple wants 30%, the price goes up leaving IPhone customers footing the price then you have to deal with IOS Dev yearly costs too. 30% + 99$, it filters out a lot of shit but fuck that.
One thing I forgot, if you have an app with a login through another service say Google or Facebook, Apple now requires developers to make sure Apple's new sign-in service is above others. Apple are pretty shitty, when people were jailbreaking their phones developers were making good features, Apple coppied the good ones. Apple clamped down on jailbreakers since then Apple has not really made much that creats any interest.
