I think, for a lot of them, it's feeling like they can never live up to the impossible beauty standards and level of conspicuous consumption presented on social media, and thus they'll never have the kinds of lives and relationships they long for. There's that feeling of being on the wrong side of the glass, looking in, feeling like they'll never become an insider--and not understanding that there are other options that, while less glamorous, have the potential to be at least as satisfying (if not more so).

Since hey can't win, they might as well go all-out as losers, casting themselves as rebels (even though they all end up looking the same). So they just go all in with letting themselves go, and making themselves as hideous and unappealing as possible. It's the kind of "fuck you" gesture you'd expect from an embittered loser who never had any hope of winning. The sad thing, however, is that a lot of these young women weren't automatically destined for loserdom in the first place, but given enough years of abject self-ruin they put themselves firmly on the path to it.

Yeah, I'd like to know more about this sort of person's background and mindset. Is this some sort of spectrum-related shit, a reaction to childhood abuse or some other traumatic event, a symptom of a dissociative disorder? Or is it just extreme attention-seeking coupled with binge eating disorder/food addiction? It looks like her weight has fluctuated a lot and quite rapidly over the last decade, though of course she was never fat like she is now, so she may have been restricting or bingeing and purging for a long time before resigning herself to obesity. She's also always had crazy eyes. There is something inherently off and broken about this person.

Anyway, I don't think you need to worry about falling down the same rabbit hole (pun intended) as these gender-bending, self-harming crazies. There's something critically and fundamentally wrong with most of them imo.
