This is something I've thought about but people rarely mention. The stoic philosophers would meditate on death. Without a knowledge of death there can hardly be a sense of urgency and an appreciation of life. Sadly even though I know this intellectually I feel like something has been lost by trying to do away with death, an innate knowledge that can't be learned from books or conversation.

Like I can MAYBE KINDA SORTA understand the first guy, because there is no clear video evidence of that one. So I can give the benefit of the doubt on that for now.

The second and third guys there is CLEAR video evidence. But then all I hear from them is "he killed the first guy in cold blood and you can't claim self-defense in the process of committing a crime!" Or my favorite, "they were making a citizen's arrest and he had no right to resist!"

That's why the first incident is so important.

Assume, for the moment, that Kyle actually killed the 1st guy in cold blood. Wisconsin does not have a statutory citizen's arrest power but it does follow common law. If he had just committed murder and the people chasing him know it, they CAN arrest him for it. And if he shoots them while they are trying to arrest him, he has committed murder again.

Now, what if they could arrest him but they charge at him saying "beat his ass" instead of "stop right there, criminal scum!" Up to a jury. But it wouldn't look good for him.

But that is not the situation. Right now everything points to someone defending themselves against a criminal. And citizens, unlike cops, have very little protection if they try to arrest someone who is not guilty.
