The bloom reminds me of Twilight Princess, but Twilight Princess had an actual reason to include the bloom: Creating a surreal-looking world plunged into a different realm.
Alex put bloom in his game because he doesn't know what the fuck he wants to do, and the implementation looks like shit.
The fact that the bloom in zelda twilight princess helped create atmosphere let the game's artstyle actually stand out a bit more, and it helps that the graphics weren't lazily made because "oh we can cover it up with bloom"

Alex has done exactly that, the bloom serves no purpose, and the blur effect actively makes the game look even worse.
There's asset flips that have more competency and cohesion than what Mr. Mahan has managed to string together.

Try testing out your GPU with a different game. It could just be Alex being a shitty programmer and fucking up OpenGL/Graphics somehow, but that looks like a VRAM error if its not his fault.
Bloom always works best in a fantasy setting, it was never intended to be used this dramatically in a typical Japanese high school

Except in specific 3d NSFW games about academy's
I mean, the problem here using bloom is the entire setting Alex used & the models in that world.
Other games are more succesfully, but like always... this case is excepcional and i like it.

Six years.

  • Jumping to recent times, Megami is being trained by her father to be the next CEO of their company, and is being enrolled at the school. She, the Headmaster, and the current CEO know that Ayano is at the school, but by the order of the CEO, the Headmaster is not to intervene.

I'm going to throw a wild guess and say that I believe Alex is setting this up for the same "twist" as the S3 reveal on Metal Gear Solid 2, Alex does love that game after all.
After it's revealed what the S3 is, it's explained why Shadow Moses was used as the backdrop for exercise taking place, to quote the game;
"We used Shadow Moses as a paradigm for the exercise."
"We chose that backdrop because of it's extreme circumstances, it was an optimal test for S3's crisis management capacity, if the model could trigger, control and solve this, it would be ready for any contingency. And now we have our proof"
I bet that the reason why the current CEO is allowing Ayano to go around murdering students is because he wants to test Megami's abilities in dealing with this type of threat and to see if she is able to solve the problem at hand, as proof that she is ready to be a CEO.
Alex truly can't come up with anything in this game by himself.

Thanks for reminder me that fucking awful ending. And it's ironic actually:
Alex is literally a meme, and MGS2's plot is talking about memes indirectly (more focused in mass control overall), with MGR taking again that point.

He really fucking did it? After how many fucking years again?

This shit is still glitchy as fuck, but now that I think about it, if Alex had put his nose to the grindstone sooner, and this was the first or second demo he released in like 2015, people would've loved it. If Alex had just focused on getting the core gameplay of Yandere protag, Senpai goal, and Killable Rival Girl, and then released this game as his proof of concept, I have no doubt that the game would have had a successful kickstarter and he'd have been able to form a team faster.

All those easter eggs? That Sans Undertale easter egg especially, with the stupid anti-gravity levitation mechanic? If he had spent that time devving Osana instead, he'd have been done long before he told /v/ to fuck off. Hell, he probably wouldn't have even felt the need to. He'd probably have disappeared off of 4chan on his own accord, kinda like the Risk of Rain devs. bastards...

That's not to say that Alex would've been a good manager or project lead. He'd probably have had made the same mistakes and bumblings as Mike Z did minus sex-talking his main animator (he's too much of an introvert NEET to even have the balls to do so). But he would've avoided at least 25%, 500 of the 2135+ pages of shit we've commentated and documented on for the last 4 years out of the 6 years he's been developing the game.

But now, the idea of a successful kickstarter is absolutely laughable. The kind of people who would've wanted to spend money on YanSim's Kickstarter now either have laugh at him as a meme. Those deepfake memes of how he looked like as a teenager are even worse for PR. Even the Markiplier crowd kiddies have grown into twitterfag Apeis-types with some form of Aloggy hatred of Alex and see him as a rapist racist pedo internet hitler scumbag who should be in jail because of the dumb typical anime tropes he's put into the game because it's based around stupid anime tropes, so he can also say goodbye to their parent's money.

All in all, though, the most positive thing to come out of the Apeis saga is it finally kicking Alex in the ass and getting him to finally finish Osana, as buggy and glitchfilled as she is.

This could all have been done in 1 year or at most 2, not 6.

I almost want to travel to 2086 and get the final version of the game from future Alex. "Finished" as in final patreon release after 24 years of dicking around and only having the 2nd rival half finished. Just to put an end to this misery earlier.

Honestly, the only times I see Bloom being a good idea in a 'Japanese high-school' setting is for moments like when Ayano is obsessing over Senpai. Then it sort of makes this dreamy 'fantasizing' atmosphere that very obviously is just her imagining things. I can't even run the game, but I'm assuming the whole 'Yandere-chan standing near Senpai to calm down' thing is still in and might somehow be even more bloomed after the actual bloom filter is in.

I've read the most of the Wiki, saw all of the Sakura content, and played a good chunk of the game, so I could give a general outline of the story:
Main Characters
  1. Mr. Saikou - Current CEO of the worlds largest corporation, Saiko Corp/Inc?
  2. Megami Saikou - The final rival and the CEOs daughter.
  3. Ayano Aishi (Main character) - "YanChan", the batshit insane serial killer girl you play as.
  4. Headmaster - School administrator for something like 25/35 years (A long time)
  5. Kencho Saikou - Younger brother of Megami and oldest sibling. Son of Mr. Saikou
  6. Senpai (Taro Yamada) - The main dude that you are attempting to manipulate into being your husbando
  7. Ayano's Mother - Was in the school in the 1980s. Committed various murders and got her version of Senpai, giving birth to Ayano as a result.
Now here is where the story begins:
  • Saikou Corporation exists because of a grudge that Megami's grandfather held against the rest of the world.
  • This grudge stems from his extreme nationalism and witnessing firsthand the bombing of Japan by the US in WWII, and watching his friends die before him.
  • This nationalism is so great that he voluntarily joined a drafting Japanese military to fight for his country, during a bloody and intense war.
  • Angry at the world, he sets out to create the largest corporation and spread the Japanese way across the planet, in a "revenge" attempt against everyone who wronged his great nation.
  • He manages to succeed at this, creating the largest company in the world, but realizes that his plan won't work because Japan is already loved by a majority of the planet for its cultural and entertainment significance, and spreading its influence isn't really possible at this point.
  • He gives up on his plan for world domination and idles around for some time before handing the company off to his son, the character known as Mr. Saikou.
  • But before this, the grandfather opens a school, the Academy, as a "CEO training ground" for his son and grandchildren, putting the Headmaster in charge (We don't know his significance yet)
  • In the first few years, the 1980s, Ayano's mother enters the school and goes on a similar serial killing spree, causing the Headmaster to fall into a deep depression while his schools reputation tanks and no closure is met. The headmaster becomes fat, turns into a bathroom-filming pedophile, and created the tapes (Headmaster tapes) as a coping mechanism.
  • Jumping to recent times, Megami is being trained by her father to be the next CEO of their company, and is being enrolled at the school. She, the Headmaster, and the current CEO know that Ayano is at the school, but by the order of the CEO, the Headmaster is not to intervene.
  • It is because of this deal that nothing changes about the school when you murder students. The only actual changes are when you either kill enough students that the school legally cannot continue operating, or a student council member which pisses off Megami greatly and she ends up having cameras and metal-detectors installed in the school.
  • The no-intervening deal is because of a strange relationship between the Headmaster and the CEO, and its also hinted that Ayano's mother is involved in this as well, somehow.
  • No idea of the significance of Senpai (Taro) yet, but he is somehow related to all of this.
  • It was said by Alex a few weeks ago that the lore goes back to the 1700s... Nothing on this yet.
  • The student council has its own lore, but it isn't related to this, so I'll leave it out. Their significance is nothing more than students at the school that Megami was friends with/recruited.
  • Haven't included Kencho yet since nothing has been said about him, but he holds a massive grudge against his sister as he feels inferior to her. Its likely you'll be able to collude with him late in the game to kill/get rid of her.
There is a bit more that I'll include later, but this is the jist of it. Angry Japanese WWII veteran creates company to take over the world, but ultimately is defeated. He creates the school as a "CEO training ground" for his son and later grandchildren. Headmaster is appointed, and a bit later in time Ayano's mother comes into the school and murders people. This makes the headmaster depressed as his schools reputation falls, but she gets away with it, and in the case of Ayano herself, he can't do anything about it.
Also should mention that Alex describes Ayano as someone who feels empty without Senpai, but doesn't necessarily enjoy it. He states that she wishes that she could fix her "condition" and that murdering people is something that she doesn't like very much, but has to do for her own good.

The idea of a Japanese nationalist trying to take over the world only to realize degenerate anime and vidya and hentai has kind of already done that is leagues more hilarious and interesting than anything else going on in this situation, holy shit.

Honestly where the fuck is this in the game? I would buy it off of it exploring this plotline alone. It has tons of potential for quality laughs. Just make some tapes featuring the grandpa or something, or Mr. Saikou discussing his father's conquest and his reaction to finding out weebs already idolize Japan, for completely different reasons than he wants them to. The idea of the setting coming from an angry Japanese war vet who felt defeated when degeneracy beat him to his goal is fucking hilarious.

WHat is the point of that town? I remember Kappa Kaiju going off about it.
The town allows you to purchase different items. Because Alex can't finish his game, most of the stores are placeholders, but you can buy manga, panties, cigarettes, and make some money at a maid cafe to buy items at said shops. There are also binoculars you can use for $.25 cents to look at the boats (Kencho Saikou is on one of the boats.) It was the testing grounds for Alex's shitty graphical effects.
There is also a small alleyway with some Yakuza members inside (Scope creep as fucking always), but they don't do anything except speak ominously. You can also find the 2nd rival there in the bakery at the end of the street (Forgot her name).
Edit: The item functions:
  • Panties - Provides buffs to Ayano such as: Increased running speed, less blood contamination, easier reputation, less NPC awareness, more study points, more effective apologies, more sanity, and more effective online rumors.
  • Manga - Provides the player with new killing methods, such as using the water fountain to electrocute NPCs. For a new player, this is a way to find new methods of eliminating rivals.
  • Cigarettes - Use fake ID from Info-chan to buy them and plant them inside of student lockers to get them expelled. Another method of eliminating rivals
  • Hardware Store - [UNFINISHED] You can buy gardening/construction tools that are probably used to kill students. Don't know why this even exists since the school already has a fuckton of weapons already
  • Electronics Store - [UNFINISHED] You can buy microphones, a drone, and some other spy tools, but nothing works yet. IMO Alex should've put drones in the game, would've made up (only a tiny bit) for the crappy gameplay.
The maid cafe allows you to play a small minigame to get money, other than trading 10 panty shots for $100 dollars at the school, but you automatically get sent home afterwards so it you can't even use the money you made until the next day. No reason to use it when you can just plant new bugs/cameras at the school each new day and just exchange the panty shots for $100.

That's what I thought too.

If it's playing music, I think it's just the visuals that are the problem. Just press enter and the menu should function just fine.

If it doesn't work, then you're screwed until Alex 'fixes' it.
Wow. well that's fucking retarded. 10/10 game design, Alex!
EDIT:
Screenshot (13).png

Her panties clip through her skirt in the opening cutscene. Also in the opening cutscene (You could say it was just Y-C "imagining" how it happened, but alex isn't that clever) Yandere-chan's mom and dad are confessing to each other in front of the cherry tree, but this is clearly contradicted by alex's "tapes" where Dadpai says "Love? But we've never even spoken to each other before!"
