I have a theory. Every false accusation of rape, be it accusing vic, or anyone else, seems to come from someone who would still be ugly even if you're blackout drunk, and blind. These people would freak out Ray Charles.
I think they make these fake accusations to try and convince people that they're "so desirable that men can't help themselves", in some twisted fucked up logic. This is probably why certain people were mad that vic stated he has zero sexual attraction to them :-]

No offense, but squally probably needs to take a step back. She's too personally invested in all of this. The fact that she said the emails were fake because that's what she wanted to believe is kind of embarrassing. Also, I just need to say this once: her graphic design abilities are pretty shit. She makes all of the posters for announcements for Vic. She's responsible for this:

She also for some reason always uses that one red carpet picture of Vic where he looks like he had several botox accidents. It's weird.

Anyway, I don't understand what the plan was for the figure. It seems a lone fan (not a company) made that prototype and there were never any talks with funko. I guess they thought that, if they announced the figure at a convention, people would get excited and email Funko and only then would they start working on a figure? That doesn't seem like a well thought out plan.

Honestly, the whole funko pop situation is a mess. Let's just move on and pretend it never happened.

Pretty much. Tons of people sell fan works that break copyright IP, but unless its a stick-up-their-ass company like Disney they usually look the other way and don't care. Of course, I'm sure companies like Funimation would try to shut it down out of spite, although its usually not worth the legal fees so it depends how much spite they have.

Assuming this actually is a real Funko prototype and not just a fan made "proof of concept" thing then the licensing might not be an issue if it's either legally considered different enough to be seen as a transformative work or if they already have licensing for the different IP's in question, and considering it's Funko, it's a possibility.

I'm hoping the appeals go well for Vic, but I've honestly gone full doomer on a lot of things deep down given all the shit that's been happening this year.

I'm expecting the worst-case scenario in all honesty. I know Marchi will be the one who is the most likely to get away completely despite being tied with Ron for the biggest scumbag named in the suit.

I think Monica and Ron are the most likely to get brought into the mix but I'm still convinced it is an extremely unlikely thing that even they will see any repercussions.

If we get a lucky break and MoRon get brought back, then maybe Funimation might consider the possibility of making some kind of preemptive deal with Vic since Monica seems petty enough to try and bring down Sabat and anyone else at Funimation with enough skeletons in their closet as a way to lash out.

I'm sorry but what is it with these people finding something that's basically non-offensive creepy? Even though I find the timing of that troll's post suspicious, I didn't think she'd react to it like this. I don't think she's being fully honest about that email and it being from a stan.

No, she overheard Vic calling someone else "princess" which seems to be a bit of fan service for fans of Ouran Highschool Host Club. I wouldn't know personally; I've never watched it. It's still ridiculous in its own right were he not providing fan service though. Vic loves his fans. You would have to have no sense of self worth to be disgusted by terms of endearment. Well, I might could see someone finding disgust in it if a person just casually threw words like "sweetie" and "pumpkin" around but Vic's interactions with fans seem personalized enough for any terms of endearment to feel genuine.

I won't go full doomer, but I won't be waiting for a 17-0 reversal.

I'm with @AnOminous. We're more than likely looking at a partial reversal. Now I would love if every defendant got brought back on at least one cause of action, but who knows, Marchi and Funimation might skate. I hope not, of course. The argument would only be persuasive, not binding (I think that's the term), since it came from federal court, but a federal judge ruled that claiming Nick Sandmann was impeding Nathan Phillip's movement was defamatory. If that's defamatory, I don't know how saying Vic tried to attack Monica in his hotel room, or that he physically restrained and battered Jamie, or that he had assaulted several of Ron Toye's friends, or that Vic was fired for harassing and threatening behavior could not be defamatory.

Who knows. Sandmann lost before he won again. Kenosha Kyle is in jail before his hopeful dismissal of his murder charges, and I don't even know with Johnny Depp. Maybe Vic follows the trend of dark before the light. I hope.
