Pfft. They will just require interstate trucking companies to use a local courier and pass the costs off as a delivery surcharge to the customer.
They have been talking about that since the middle of June. A lot of truckers supposedly agree with this companies sentiment.

The Truck Driver Shortage in 2020 - The Dirty Truth No One Talks About
The REAL reasons there is a truck driver shortage. What steps is the trucking industry taking to end it? Do they intend to EVER do what it takes to end it?www.smart-trucking.com
Supposedly the industry was short 60,000 people before. Now some are taking themselves off routes due to dangers.
While this situation may not be as dire as the Brazil truckers strike, it will cause pressure in markets. Particularly food.
Quote from the article: "Forty-eight hours after the protests began, the price of food had already created an enormous crisis. Two weeks ago, the price of a sack of potatoes was less than $11. By Thursday last week, it had reached nearly $80 in some places. By the third day of the strike, potatoes began to disappear from markets because they could not be transported from the countryside to the cities."
Arguably Democrats just turned the cities death spiral into a nose dive.
Some places (like DC and Manhattan) have had this system in place long before now. If you want to get your shit delivered in some places, you gotta grease the palms of the locals. Whether officially through special trip/parking permits or by hiring some approved subcontractor.
Where it gets tricky is places like St. Louis where the cross-continent superslab runs right through the middle of the city. They haven't been able to fully corrupt that yet. Though by fucking around with fuel taxes, registrations, permits, and tollways, they are trying.
They have a million different ways to skim a bit off the top of a productive business to disperse to their friends. This shouldn't be a surprise anyone.
