I can't stand sports games on principle. Why would I line EA's wallet to play digital sportsball when I can round up some friends, go into a park, and play real sportsball? I don't care that FIFA 2022 has Ngubu on the front and that I can take control of Norf FC because I can watch actual games on the bloody television if I'm interested. Ditto Madden, NBA, and so forth.
The only exceptions are "future" or improbable sports that could never exist because of lawsuits the size of the Oort Cloud (i.e. Speedball and suchlike) or sports with an excessive barrier to entry (i.e. ski jumping, which requires a purpose built 90 metre tall hill and testicles the size of melons; Formula 1, which requires an absolutely stupendous amount of money;
If there was a game of Rollerball from the 1975 film with James Caan, though, and which was good, I would be all over it. (Yes I know there's Killerball from 1989 on the Atari ST, Amiga, and PC but that suffered from crippled controls even though it got the aesthetic about right.)
