The odds of a BLM protest being a riot are about half of ones chances in Russian roulette. I’m honestly curious how they counted these. Like did they break it off into between the day and night protests to increase the number of protests? Was it based on arrests, violent crimes, or criminality of any sort? It would be so easy to have a selection bias if you made the criteria only for violent crimes considering police haven’t done shit about a lot of this stuff.

Ignoring how others have pointed out that this study is obviously suffering from a selection bias, I hate this whole "most of them are peaceful!" argument anyway. Aside from how there's obviously more denial than denouncement of the violent aspects of these riots, everyone seems to forget the fact that for being "peaceful", these are just large clusters of people being gathered during what is supposedly a pandemic. Regardless of your thoughts on the whole COVID-19 situation, I find it extremely hard to believe that most of the people participating in these, even if it was only early on, wouldn't have been indulging in kung flu fearmongering before and after, and that's assuming that there's no need to worry about the virus at all. And of course, for being "protests", they're protesting against something that isn't even true (police brutality being racially motivated against blacks)- I'm sure those who were protesting early on aren't malicious, but ignorantly contributing to something malicious isn't much better. But on that note...

The press have to be some of the dumbest fucking people out there.
