The same city council that made a proclamation and pledge in front of a crowd that they were going to get rid of policing in Minneapolis in the wake of George Floyd's death is pretty much admitting that it's not going to happen now.
Probably in part because a crowd of a few hundred agitators does not represent a city of 400,000 people. Probably also because the council is made up of useless idiots whose only qualifications are liberal arts degrees and a white guilt (one of them is the woman that, upon being asked what people should do if someone is breaking into their house and there's no police, suggested that the question itself came from a 'place of priviledge').
Happens more than you might think. Sometimes it's because they don't see the cops as the enemies there and sometimes it's because the shitbag that the cops are trying to lock up has been pissing people off for an eternity and they just want him taught a lesson. More than one cop has had his life saved by a felon.

Having scrolled through highlights, does anyone know if the command staff's mass resignation opens the door for replacements who will be more cucked and sympathetic to the BLM & Antifa causes, or is there hope the new people will still be relatively based? As much as I'll credit the staff for resigning to preserve their integrity, I worry that it will only make the police department worse if the people that get hired as more in line with what the mobs are demanding.
I guess wearing masks in response to COVID-19 aren't permitted at protests.

Speaking of defunding the police, the graduate student teachers union (GEO) from University of Michigan's main campus authorized a strike that I believe started today. While the GEO's demands relating to pay and working conditions related to COVID are reasonable items to negotiate, the GEO has also demanded that money be diverted away from campus safety and an end to working with the local police and other agencies such as ICE. U of M officially and rightfully pointed out the latter demands are outside the scope of the contact.

It looks like the GEO is part of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the more activist/militant union when compared to the NEA, so I'm not too surprised about the defunding demands even if they're inappropriate for a teaching contract. I can only hope the university is able to settle the other demands while telling the GEO "LOL no" to their defunding demands. Sadly, today's university environment is such that it's also possible the university will give them what they want.

Archie Bunker was a man caught up in his whole world changing, coming to grips with how society was in upheaval. He wasn't a bad guy, and he was loyal to his friends, and he backed George up. He was just a normal guy.
George Jefferson was a man that through hard work moved up in society and hard to fit in, not only being black, but being new rich.
Both characters were deeply flawed men who cared about their family and their friends.
They both forgave one another for their mistakes.

I thank Christ I live in a suburb away from all this nonsense. I've seem some idiots around my neighborhood wearing 'black lives matter' shit and the occasional protest of less than 20 people on the side of the streets next to where I work (key word being on the SIDE of the street, and not in the middle of the fucking road), yeah, they're a bunch of morons but at least they aren't bothering anyone.
It infuriates me, even if I'm not the one being affected.. The fact this is happening at all, that people are putting up with this shit is what really makes my blood boil.
It's their enablers, I think, more than the offenders themselves that infuriates me the most, because without them, they would not be able to do this shit.
2020 has been an absolute garbage-fire and it will go down as one of the worst years in history.
AND IT'S STILL NOT OVER.
