I have been wondering about the likelihood of this. Although that police department tweet doesn't really seem to confirm anything but looking for rioters, It's definitely something law enforcement at every level should be looking into. They could literally just be a bunch of copy cat fires, just like how the "demonstrations" started.

Perhaps too well? Already at least two families burned to death in their own homes from this. There was a town of almost 2000 that Wikipedia says is "effectively destroyed".

He has probably already made up his mind but the Russian revolution presents a good example about why you should probably prioritize unity over individualism in times of crisis. Many towns had sons who were trained in the Russian Army and had their own weapons. They had their own militias even when the civil war kicked off. Yet.... it did not matter in the end because the Bolsheviks would systematically smoke out village after village that resisted. The "green militias" as they collectively were later called, never really advanced beyond their towns or dealt with the internal divisions which ultimately doomed them as the Bolsheviks built up victory after victory.

And if you want a more American example: Well... the old colonial snake slogan "Join, or die"? One of the huge struggles for Washington was uniting all the Colonials who joined into a unified army, and uncontrolled individual ambition led to Benedict Arnold's betrayal happening.
