Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

The Pope is catching on.

I like that the narrative is now "The site will never be sold and anybody who calls attention to this fact will be banned."

"You should go there and never come back to this... posting paradise? haven for multiple communities to share and talk about shit?"
I mean if you want to talk basic quality metrics, you can start with the fact that while no-content posts are frowned upon both here and on SA, SA neither has the tools to properly get rid of them nor can be assed to do so. If you emptyquote or make one-word reaction posts or other shit here, your posts get deleted; goons who do that shit can only get banned for varying lengths of time which they usually take as grounds to raise a shitstorm in QCS. The fact that this site has (and uses) effective and non-disruptive tools that completely remove no-content posts is on its own enough to drastically improve average post quality on this site over SA; even if you hate the content of the posts here you can’t debate that they’re much less likely to be contentless white noise than anything on SA day to day. Then you have the fact that this site uses embedded attachments to posts instead of hotlinking from unreliable and capricious offsites, so KF threads that have media in them don't turn into graveyards of red X's over time.

There are fairly serious cultural differences, too, which generally lead to better post quality here. Goons are infamous for unquestioningly believing anything that was posted by another goon, to the point that a fuckton of goons still think Notch is a KKK member because someone once posted a screenshot of a tweet doctored to look like Notch was ranting about niggers -- just as one example. This site's primary purpose is to document the unbelievably terrible behavior of unbelievably terrible people: an endeavor that lends itself to healthy skepticism not only because the internet is full of fanficcing weirdos but because truthful information about people is always funnier than fiction. The more bizarre and hilarious something is, the more this site scrutinizes it to make sure someone isn't doing some kind of weird autistic ARG fantasy.

Also, no one on the Kiwi Farms ever got attacked for archiving and verifying something, whereas if goons don't like your post they'll attack you for not having sources unless you have sources, in which case they'll attack you for having them. The result is that on average, information on this site is far better sourced and far more likely to be properly verified than on Something Awful, and when something interesting gets posted it won't get buried under a mountain of goons screaming "omg take all my 5s." To name a few perks.

This is what ultimately killed funny posters on SA. Nu-GBS thought ironyposting was “hilarious”, and started giving one word responses to peoples effort threads. People who used to put hours into funny photoshops or stories would be met with “didn’t read lol” or some gay emoji, and so a lot of the people that were on a comedy website for comedy (god it feels bad having to type that) fucking left. All the people that were left were the fucked up degenerate freaks who would go to a comedy websites forums to discuss their stupid politics like Ron Paul, or eventually communism and shemales and whatever else is the cause du jour were championed on their podcasts. I quit going to the website after trump got elected and 400 goons got out of having to eat a Toxx (basically a pledge that if what you predict doesn’t happen, you eat a ban) because a D&D mod said goons were too busy getting ready to kill themselves or for the predicted MAGA lynching parties to form and do it for them, and refused to honour the toxxes.

Toxxing in the past was a sacred goon tradition, and I couldn’t care who won the election as I’m not American. I was looking forwards to having to see hundreds of spergs rebuy their accounts and wear some sort of humiliating avatar. When that didnt go through, I saw the writing on the wall that comedy was now longer allowed on the comedy forum somethingawful.com. I really didn’t care if people’s comedy was good, weak, or ironically so bad it was kinda funny: you get that in every community. But when good posters were starting up photoshop threads for the first times in years, 80% of the responses on the first two pages were “lol gay” or whatever current meme was going around

The hillary toxxers actually did end up getting banned. Lowtax showed up and laid down the law, one of the last cool things he did. He also removed a couple of mods that at the time were very butthurt about this.

There were rumors that some admin secretly reinstated a bunch of accounts without the toxxers having to pay, but I never saw proof.

You could have just said that the biggest differences are that on KF A) being funny is encouraged and B) you don't have to dance between the raindrop whims of some faggot mod sucking the lady dick of whatever troon/octaroon and xer solar-system of orbiters, desperate to prove just how progressive they are not like those maga chuds everywhere else.

Oh and C) it doesn't cost you :10bux: to fucking shitpost on an internet forum.

lol gay didn't read

thats not how toxx works i believe, its only a ban iirc

I haven't really been on the forums in like a decade but if I remember correctly it was supposed to be a permaban when the 2016 election rolled around. I could be wrong though, I'm just going from my memory of what I read on Kiwifarms or one of the splinter sites.
