And yet there are people that take IMDB's ratings as being the premiere source of whether a movie is good or not.
I'll be the first one to admit that they're usually pretty good but this is once the movie has been out for a while. Any popular movie when it first comes out is launched into the top 250. After a couple months it starts sliding down the scale until after a few years more "suitable" rating is decided when the hype has died down and people aren't going to the page to vote it up or down. And even then, a rating of 6.0 on a movie you like doesn't change the fact that you like that movie. Hell, there are people that unironically love "From Justin to Kelly" or "The Hottie and the Nottie" and these are considered some of the worst movies ever made. So it all comes down to preference and opinion and if you're getting angry at the opinion of others then you just have issues.
Even aggregator sites like Rottentomatoes or Metacritic aren't a good indication if you will like a movie. I saw "Lucy" and "It Follows" based on the previews and the critics responses to them. Both movies were underwhelming but got great reviews. So what does this actually mean?
It's simple. Don't let others tell you what you should like or not like. Make up your own damn mind and understand that there will always be people that see things differently than you.
