Is there such a thing as a competent game dev in Yandere Games? And i mean those under the "im making a yansim clone!" Spectrum.
Considering they're making a game exactly like Yandere-sim without changing anything gameplay wise and only "optimizing it" ? No. Yandere Simulator is a deeply flawed game that simply shouldn't exist as is. The clunky half-ass'd Hitman gameplay mixed with a "social simulator" doesn't work because the two genres are completely different. It would work if it was a game with one focus and the other being a small addition, but instead Alex saw no problems with just making the game using both ideas completely unchanged besides balance not existing. Why? Because Alex sucks at Hitman and can't play it in any other way besides "Stealth only". He's very close sighted.

The fight between Alex and Logan is just stupid.:story:
In terms of literal yandere games, probably. In terms of what you've said, that's not really possible. Even if we put aside the fact that the concept itself would need major reconstruction to work, nearly everyone going in to do this is on opposite sides of the spectrum - it's either members of Alex's cult, who suck him off and talk themselves down at every step, or autists (often ex-members) trying to make themselves look better than Alex. The one real exception I've seen is Yandere School, and that's just Slavs putting out shovelware for a quick buck off a popular thing.

I am convinsed that most people who followed YanDim years ago probably just liked it for being wacky animu sandbox game.
I mean, let's players treated it as Goat simmulator but Anime and it's safe to say that they brough most of fame to the game.
I imagine that if Alex kept just updating sandbox without ever trying to make this project """big game""" he could probably keep gettin 3000 bucks a mouth from paypigs without trouble.
Plus he could maybe get away with shitty code but that's :optimistic:

Sounds about right. I think even Alex tried to push the killing people aspect as far as he could before he decided out of the blue to go with lore and all that fun stuff.

It's official.
Extraterrestrial life has been discovered before the release of Yandere Simulator

Not really. If you start off your game project with “I’m going to make X but better!” then you’re already lost.
This niche can and probably should be filled, but people, but there are things to be considered.
  1. You should at least consider taking different direction, or explore on concepts that made original likeable.
  2. You are making this game to entertain people. Not to spite some manchild in his 30's.
  3. Please, for the love of god, don't put your fetishes into the game.
  4. Naturally, you can throw in some wacky shit or fanservice in, but at least be smart about it. Having a taste required.
  5. Your best bet is taking a piss. You are making anime murder simmulator, so don't try putting on serious face.
  6. Pick up at least some management skills if you are planning to have a team.
  7. Don't pick up volonteers. Make an actual team, or develop your game alone.
  8. If you don't have means to pay your team with money at least agree with them to make it worth their whille. Don't screw them over.
  9. Develop the game in silence untill you actually have something ready to be played
  10. If you haven't followed the last one at least don't give people excuse to dig for your dirt.
  11. But after all Aepis fuckups people are gonna watch you under microscope, anyways.
Edit: This entire affair looks like people trying to pull the blanket of YanSim on their side, rather than putting something new to the table.
Whille Alex does not have right to be the only one developer of theese type of games, other people should not hope to steal his crown. Mostly because it is jester hat.

Specifically when your talking about Yandere Sims Alex already went out of his way to promise the world so making it "better" than the dreamlike vision Alex has established for the game is neigh impossible.

Its like those two people kids at school who shit talk each other and keep escalation but their "fight" resembles more a competition who can hug harder.

I don't agree with that, specially for this game, because with good ideas and skill you could very well improve it. I also feel like YanSim may have potential if done properly, but Alex isn't drawing all of it.

A good example of successful projects like such is Minecraft, which was inspired by Infiniminer. The creator took note of something that looked promising, innovated around the concept, and ended up with a better product. Although, to be fair in this case, Infiniminer's development was discontinued for other reasons.

YanSim's writing and story isn't that great to begin with, and the gameplay is hindered by a lack of meaningful features and Alex's bad coding practices. Doesn't seem like there's much to do in the game's current version after a few minutes of playing, other than to explore glitches.

Does Alex even know what YanSim is anymore? At this point he might as well go full Star Citizen and keep adding features to prolong development as much as he can if he wants to keep up whatever lifestyle he has.
