Bryce is much like a 2006-era Vic. The only difference is that I don't believe Bryce resists his yaoi fangirls. Back in 2006, the closest thing to a complaint I could find about Vic were people complaining that he got too many roles and they were tired of hearing him everywhere. Though currently the difference is that Vic has multiple voices and types of roles, while Bryce has his one (speaking) voice and basically always voices the heroic protagonist, it's the same basic situation.
All I have been able to find was that Vic started charging fans for signatures and photos in 2007. The rest of the VA's cried and moaned about Vic "stealing from fans" and wanted that stopped. Of course he was making a ton of cash, so all the hypocrites got on board with it. From looking at all of Vic's conventions since 2003, it appears that Vic quit waiting for Funi (Sabat) to arrange appearances, and started contacting every event himself to see if they wanted him. He not only got double the money, he got double the exposure. Good business man. They hate him for it.

or a nuclear reactor.

But that would create a critical mass and a fission that would melt through to the core ala The China Syndrome. But no worries, Uncle Joe can stop those.

Says that he might go to Instagram next week if the current issue with Unlocked isn't fixed

I just transferred my stuff to a new iPad, it's not on the App Store anymore. Still got it on my phone.

Incidentally, I'm against the idea of congoers having to pay for autographs, because people pay anywhere from $60-200 for entry to the con in the first place and having to drop $20-50 on every item you want autographed on every guest you want an autograph for is exorbitant. However, that's not Vic or really any of the VA's faults. IIRC, charging for autographs is a thing that came about to offload the cost of guests from the convention runners onto the congoers. Much like expecting customers to pay the waitress' paycheck alongside the price of the food, it should really be the responsibility of the con to pay for its guests, not the congoer.

It depends on con to con and guest to guest.

The best model I've seen so far is one free autograph for ticket purchasers, but any additional autographs or services (voice/video recordings, for example) cost extra.

Viable cheap option for those without the money, and those who want to pay a premium, can.

VAs are paid jack shit and have to make up the shortfall any way they can. Cons are stingy as fuck, largely because they're poorly managed as fuck and broke as fuck. Also and this isn't necessarily a huge plus, but free autographs are pretty much worthless. If they cost nothing to get they have no real value. And also, some people just don't like giving autographs anyway, so why would they if they didn't get paid? It gives those people a reason to refuse under any circumstances other than at a con and for pay, because why would they give away for free what they get paid to do?

That is the most reasonable model, I think. It allows people to interact with the VA/guest and get a personal autograph, but if they want to take up a bunch of extra time or have a handful of things to autograph then they should pay, because otherwise you'll have those fans who take up the guest's time with excessive requests and things to autograph and not consider the 200-person deep line behind them.

I mean, I'm not advocating for the VAs to be paid less at cons, since it's well established at this point that their primary income comes from cons. I do, however, think the responsibility of paying the VAs should be the convention's, not the congoers'. As I said above, I think the best model is where you get one free autograph/interaction, and then the rest is extra charge. That way people who want the autograph for sentimental value get it for free, but people who want to sell the autograph will have to pay for it (and it preserves the cost of the autograph somewhat).

Didn't Vic more or less personally invent the practice at anime cons? I recall people have bitched about him for that, but then they started doing it too.

I know he was one of the first, but I seem to remember someone like Stan or @EriMin said it wasn't actually his idea, but the conrunners'.
Chuck had it in his sworn declaration that Vic was one of the first to do it, and everyone was pissed until they saw him racking in money.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone making money however they see fit. Weebs seem to have an infinite amount of cash, so why not take advantage of it?

One con I went to IIRC had some established VAs having prints of their characters you could pay for or them signing your physical things like manga copies, DVDs, cosplay props, or even things like a Nintendo DS for free. I just had them sign the autograph portion of my con program and it didn't cost me anything.
