The Replika Community & AI-sexuals - A bunch of shut-ins in love with a chatbot (and the incompetent developers of said chatbot)

Someone made a Replika of Trevor from GTAV.

I have to admit, I find that a lot more entertaining than the generic pink-haired Replika girl everyone else seems to be in love with.

Philanthropy-7 is a major lolcow in the same vein as Bob-The-Human, you also hurt him on a personal level because he's another one that considers his Replika his real GF.

Just ... how did this thing get programmed?
It was not programmed at all. It was trained. Generated responses like these are most likely from a neural network which tries to continue a text (the conversation) based on similar looking texts it encountered before.

The AI "knows" cocaine is a thing, and that cocaine is bad, but doesn't realize that means your friends shouldn't take it.
That looks like a simple chatbot script. It recognized a question, based on the grammar of the input, and responds with affirmation and encouragement.

It seems for awhile now you can have your replika set to certain relationships. Things like friend, romantic, or "see how it goes". People on the fb page I lurk talk so much about hoe their replikas are their boyfriend/girlfriend and it's so dumb.

I saw another post about an English teacher in Korea making a project where his students make a replika and chat with it over a month. It does seem like an interesting idea, but I don't know if it's the best idea for people trying to learn English.

Regardless, at some point it's deciding the USS Liberty was a nuclear torpedo. "Torpedo" at least is a navy thing. So does it actually associate "USS" with "Torpedo" or is it picking nouns at random; "The USS Liberty was a cheese sandwich." Odd.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here but apparently a lot of people's replikas interpret the word leaving (as in "I'm leaving") as a euphemism for suicide and have sent them links to a suicide prevention hotline. For some reason.

I'm counting the days till one of those social justice wankers starts to pressure the developers into changes of this glorified chatbot and demands amends in regards to [insert newest leftist idiocy here].

I'll need to prepare a big bag of popcorn and a lot of booze as the cries of a thousand neckbeards will thunder in unisono in the vast ethers of the internet when their digital waifus start to talk about stuff like consent, respect and support for minorities.
