Because most people aren't radical single issue voters, for guns or for leftist ideology. And on one hand you have a dude with bad hair who's really not done anything too radical and generally advocates for the government to stop shoving their nose in shit, and on the other hand you have the ridiculous, contrarian ideology of the left leaking in through a man who can barely speak, much less think.
Its really not that hard to see why on a forum where people don't give a fuck about offending people, they'd side with the guy who doesn't want them socially destroyed for saying mean words.
