Oh that isn't just gonna get the Democrats activated.
Agreed. If anything, I think seeing Cocaine Mitch ram this through against their best efforts will completely demoralize them.

Murkowski is a loser and has already said she won't vote on a nominee before the election. I expect Romney to cuck out. Collins will probably not vote for a nominee because she has an election coming up. But that's all I see defecting.

It's gonna be 51-50 with Pence casting the tiebreaker.

Yup. And right before October.
Get the pop corn ready, the next fucking month and a half is gonna be great.

We might all be fucked if Harris wins (really who believes at this point that Joe won't be kicked out ASAP)

But the next month is going TO BE AMAZING.

Oh, it will activate both bases even if Mitch doesn't ram anything through. I honestly don't think he should try, if only because it sets a real bad precedent and makes the SCOTUS stuff even more of a shit show.

The Dems turned off half of the swing voters with these riots. Their behavior after RBG's death will turn off the other half.
While I do think this will spike motivation for Dems to turn out, I think a lot of the people who were panicing about this were already going to vote adamantly for Biden. The same people also think that the world is ending from climate change and the world needs uncle Joe to save us from Trumpler. Also, its over a month from the election. In hyper-partisan Trumpian politics, thats like a decade for people not paying attention, and especially for those needing to work extra to support themselves during a lockdown. Remember, they had a chance to FLIP the court liberally for years in 2016 and we still voted in Trump. I think its just going to get a lot more intense.

So who's saltmining?

What bad precedent? The presidency and the Senate belong to the same party.

The seat needs to be filled before the election. Because as it stands now, SCOTUS has four conservatives, three liberals and a wishy washy Roberts. If any court case about this election goes up to SCOTUS, it can't be allowed to rest on Roberts.

Oh that isn't just gonna get the Democrats activated. One of the big issues with Trump's base was Supreme Court.

I think it goes either way- I think it's unlikely that a new Justice can be confirmed in the amount of time there is (surprise me Turtleman), so both sides are going to be jockeying for this as part of their campaign plank.

The litmus test though- will this bring out the normie and youth votes? Do they really care about the Supreme Court?

Prediction: Joe Biden will be invited to RBG's funeral, and will feature heavily in a Democrat publicity push.

Of Trying to Jam empty seat as fast as humanly possible during an election season.

It can only lead to more chaos, and while I will laugh at the salt from it..more chaos is a bad thing.

Again, the two SCOTUS picks were one of the biggest reasons Trump won in 2016.

The folks at the Trump rally are straight up saying "Ginsburg is dead." when Trump talked about the Supreme Court and new justices.
I was wondering what was going to happen since he's onstage. I was hoping he would announce the breaking news live to uproarious applause, and total butthurt from the media.

He needs to nominate a Latina, not too tough on abortion. Let the dems riot on the streets against an Hispanic woman, and we'll see the votes pour in. If McConnell can force it through, the demoralization will be hilarious (and the riots will be back on the menu). Not sure just using the political theatre to get elected, without the result, will actually help Trump. Young people have been indoctrinated into the RBG cult of personality. God, just when you think the election can't get any wackier.
