I'm going to give your the full autism.

Crabs are scavengers, and pretty nasty ones at that. They will start to work on things aren't fully dead yet, so if there is something dead on the beach, there will be crabs on it, under it, and in it trying to drag as much as they can back to their burrows. If you're coastal, "Waiting for the crabs" or "I hope the crabs find him" is about the same as "waiting for the worms". In the context of human deaths, if the crabs get to work on you for more than a few hours, chances are most of your face will be gone, so wishing for the crabs to find them is basically wishing for the to need a closed casket.

The crabs are dancing because they are happy. Happy crabs are well fed crabs. Crabs are scavengers. So they are happy because there is a dead body to scavenge.
